The second half of Genshin Impact’s Version 5.5 update is almost here, and with it, two character reruns.
It’s the battle of the supports in Genshin Impact Version 5.5’s second half, which is set to come out on 16 April, 2025. Xilonen and Venti are running alongside each other in a dual banner run, and as these two characters are known for their support capabilities, it might do well for interested players to weigh in their options when wishing for either of the two.
But the thing is, the obvious choice to go for when it comes to meta players is Xilonen. As the latest SS-tier support, Xilonen outperforms Venti thanks to her more powerful, modern kit. She works best with basically any character, while Venti has sadly been powercrept since his release way back Version 1.0.
However, if you still need some convincing, then we've got you covered!
Pull for Xilonen if you’re all for the meta
Xilonen is a 5-star Geo sword user who’s established herself as an incredibly valuable character to add to your arsenal. Xilonen has the ability to shred all elemental resistances, provide single-target healing, and is a great buffer when you’re a Geo main.
Xilonen shines even with low investment, and isn’t only locked away to being a support. Xilonen’s more than capable to take both the Healer and Burst Sub-DPS roles in your party, making her a really flexible character that can work in a number of team compositions.
It’s no wonder that Xilonen has become a staple character in Genshin Impact’s current meta. And although she does have her weaknesses, you can easily overlook these as she outperforms to easily aid you in decimating any enemy on the field.
If you already have Xilonen in your party, it will do you well to invest in some of her constellations if you are able. Here are the constellations you should gun for:
- C1: Sabbatical Phrase
- Decreases Xilonen’s Nightsoul points and Phlogiston consumption by 30%, effectively extending her Nightsoul point time limit to 45%.Will also increase nearby active character’s interruption to resistance when Xilonen’s Source Samples are active.
- C2 Chiucue Mix
- Makes Xilonen’s Geo Source Samples always active, while providing buffs depending on the active Source Sample’s elemental type, those being:
- Geo: +50% DMG
- Pyro: ATK +45%
- Cryo: Crit DMG +60%
- Electro: restore 25 Energy, Elemental Burst CD decreased by 6s.
- Makes Xilonen’s Geo Source Samples always active, while providing buffs depending on the active Source Sample’s elemental type, those being:

Pull for Venti if you’re all for the fun
It’s no secret that Venti’s been powercrept. Being the first limited 5-star and Archon to be introduced to Genshin Impact, his kit–which at first was undeniably meta–has become overshadowed with arguably better characters. And with Genshin Impact’s current enemy landscape consisting of opponents that can’t be crowd-controlled, Venti’s not really a character that’s being missed by any player who wants to 36-star the Spiral Abyss.
But that doesn’t mean Venti isn’t any good. As a 5-star Anemo bow user, Venti focuses on sucking enemies into a vortex of Anemo that effectively renders them incapable of doing anything as they flail in the air for a few seconds–just the perfect amount of time for you to decimate them with your character rotation. Although arguably, his crowd control is his greatest boon right now when it comes to meta, you can’t deny that it’s great to have when you’re fighting a hoard of hilichurls.
Venti is fun, but given that there are better characters to pull for, his only purpose for your account right now is for when you’re fighting in the overworld, looking for comfort when scaling areas while exploring, or wanting to complete your Archon collection.
Yet at the end of the day, it's your account: pull for characters you want, not for characters you won’t be able to enjoy.
