Honor of Kings developer Altman reveals the reason behind its shorter seasons

Altman, one of Honor of Kings' developers, revealed that the recent seasons have been shorter because of new content.

Altman, one of Honor of Kings' developers, revealed that the recent seasons have been shorter because it prepared tons of new content based on the players' feedback. However, the content will roll out in future updates, so it needed to adjust the season's length. The shorter season meant players could enjoy the new content quicker and stay engaged in the game.

Altman promised that it would add a lot more content in the future, and smooth the ranked experience for the players. However, details regarding the new content will be announced in the future.

A shorter season means less time for players to climb the ranks. To compensate for the lack of time, Altman also promised that there would be ranked-related events to help players get their ranked tier up. One of the events was shown in the post, where players were incentivised to rank up. Honor of Kings also added a countdown tracker on the ranked tab, for when the season will end.

While Season 9 was the first time Honor of Kings discussed season length, the adjustment was already made in Season 8. The previous season was live from 5 January to 4 March 2025, approximately the same length as Season 9, two months.

During both seasons, Honor of Kings has released a hero each month, with Arke having launched in January 2025 and Chano in April 2025. Previously, Honor of Kings released five heroes over the course of three months in Season 7, with Yixing being the last before the start of Season 8.

With Season 9 ending on 30 April, 2025, players will need to reach higher ranks in a shorter time. Check out the best heroes to climb up in Honor of Kings this season to ease your ranked climb.
