Genshin Impact’s Version 5.6 preview livestream showcased lots of new content to look forward to.
With the main Natlan storyline now over, Genshin Impact is set to bring us back where everything started: Mondstadt for Version 5.6, titled “Paralogism”!
There’s tons of new content to look forward to, including two new characters in Escoffier and Ifa. The details were revealed during a preview livestream which aired today, 25 April. Version 5.6 is scheduled to release on 7 May.
But before we can get into the details, here are the livestream codes, redeem them before they expire!

Escoffier, Ifa debuts, Kinich, Raiden Shogun, Navia to rerun
Escoffier is a 5-star Ousia-aligned Cryo character hailing from Fontaine. She wields a polearm and will be a support unit focused on buffing other Cryo and Hydro party members, working to get their resistances down while also healing fellow units–most likely as one of the better characters to use once Schnezhnaya debuts.
But besides being a promising Cryo and Hydro support, Escoffier is famed for her talents in the kitchen as an amazing chef, and was once the Head Chef of Hotel Debord. Navia particularly enjoys Escoffier’s cooking.
Escoffier will debut in the first round of banners for Phase 1, and will run alongside Navia, while her signature polearm weapon will debut in the weapon banner.
Ifa, a new 4-star character, will also have a rate-up. He was introduced in the Natlan storyline, and is an Anemo-wielding catalyst user who also works as a Saurian Veterinarian, but he looks more like a dual-wielding, gun-touting cowboy. The livestream revealed that Ifa has the ability to heal party members and boost Elemental Mastery.
The 2nd half of the update will see a dual banner rerun for the Raiden Shogun and Kinich.
The Chronicled Wish banner will also gear for a comeback, and will feature these 5-star characters:

- Yae Miko
- Arataki Itto
- Sangonomiya Kokomi
- Kaedehara Kazuha
New boss enemies, new story quest
A new boss called the Secret Source Automation: Overseer Device will be making its debut. This boss will yield level up materials for Escoffier and Ifa. In addition, a new weekly boss is set to debut in Mondstadt, but it’s not the typical weekly boss we’ve come to know. It’s more like a mini-game! The “boss”, called The Game Before the Gates, is akin to a game of chess, and will include the king and queen pieces as formidable enemies.
Besides these new additions, Escoffier will also get her own story quest, which will feature Navia.
It’s back to Mondstadt with a new Archon Quest, among other events
A new Archon Quest, titled “Paralogism”, is set to expand on Mondstadt’s lore, and will feature fan-favourite characters like Jean, Venti, Albedo, and Kaeya. Considering that the last major quest to occur in Mondstadt was back in version 2.3 with the “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms” event, fans who enjoy Genshin Impact’s overarching lore will finally have something new to feast on.
The event, which was supposed to be a celebration of the Windblume Festival, will explore Albedo’s involvement in a murder case. It looks like Alice, Klee’s mom and a witch of the Hexenzirkel, will also make an appearance.
Besides Alice, Dahlia–who is introduced as the vicar of the Mondstadt church and can be a likely new playable character coming to a future version–will be involved heavily in the case, while Varka is teased to be in communication, and will be making a voice debut!
Besides the new Archon Quest, Version 5.6 will introduce a main event featuring a Fontaine; the event, called “Whirling Waltz”, starts off with Navia and Spina di Rosula having organised a celebration by spearheading a theme park. Kinich and Ifa will also feature as guests from Natlan.
“Whirling Waltz” will feature mini-games like:
- Eclectic Escapades
- Movie Masterpieces
- Mellow Manor
The event will award a new 4-star bow called “Sequence of Solitude”, alongside Primogems and more.

Quality of life updates and more
With Version 5.6 right around the corner, the developers of Genshin Impact have revealed a list of new quality-of-life updates players can expect with the upcoming update, as well as other interface and feature optimisations, those being:
- Treasure Compass upgrade
- Map updates
- Optimised character-building experience
- Character quick swap function added
- Timely reminders of collection progress when it comes to levelling characters
- Imaginarium Theater update, which will include display optimisations for “Brilliant Blessings”, new Stella Achievement Rewards, and a new Last Act restart function.
