Control spin-off FBC: Firebreak gets official release date

Game developer Remedy Entertainment is getting close to self-publishing its first game: a multiplayer three-player PvE game called FBC: Firebreak. FBC: Firebreak is a standalone spin-off set in the world of Control, following members of the Federal Bureau of Control’s Firebreak response unit as they attempt to contain various supernatural threats in the Oldest House.

Seeing as this is a Control spin-off, expect these supernatural threats to take rather strange forms. For example, a previous trailer for the game had players combat evil sticky notes, which ultimately combined to make up a giant evil sticky note boss. This is just one of the game’s many Jobs, each of which take players to different zones of the Oldest House, where they will confront different threats.

The game will also feature battle passes called Requisitions, which contain gear and cosmetics earned through gameplay. These are not limited-time items however, and will become permanently available once added to the game. Classified Requisitions can also be purchased with real money to unlock “premium cosmetic items” like voice packs and armour sets.

Remedy Entertainment recently hosted a developer livestream to dive into FBC: Firebreak’s gameplay, and confirm post-launch content for the game. That includes two new Jobs later in 2025 and more updates in 2026, all of which will be free.

FBC: Firebreak launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 17 June.
