With this new studio, Ubisoft aims to further nurture Filipino game development talent.
Ubisoft, a premier developer of AAA games like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs has expanded their operations in the Philippines with a bigger studio, the goal of which is to further showcase Filipino talent in game development, design, and more.
The new studio, which is now located in Bonifacio Global City, aims to expand their repertoire of talented and aspiring Filipino developers and designers and to put the country in the spotlight as a premier provider of quality games. Opening even more career opportunities for those wanting to enter the world of game development.
Ubisoft Philippines first entered the Philippines in 2016 by setting up a shop in Santa Rosa, Laguna. It marked the first time that a major gaming studio was established in the country, employing over a hundred local game devs.
In the 8 years since then, Ubisoft PH made its presence in game development known by having helped in the development of 11 Ubisoft titles and 5 flagship games under their belt.
Ubisoft PH played a key role in the level design, worldbuilding, and gameplay programming of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, which was released in 2023. The work provided by Ubisoft PH gave Assassin’s Creed: Mirage a vibrant, densely populated city map, the largest collection of Assassin Tools in the franchise’s history, as well as the useful and ingenious Pickpocket mechanics.
Besides working on Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, Ubisoft PH also co-developed other titles like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, For Honor, and Skull and Bones.
Currently, Ubisoft PH is aiding in the development of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest instalment in the studio’s iconic series which will be set in Sengoku-era Japan. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be made available on November 14, 2024, through the Ubisoft Official Store for PC, PS5, XBox, and Mac on App Store.
