Apex Legends Mobile will be no more come May 1, says Respawn

Just Electronic Arts doing EA things.

It has been officially confirmed by Respawn that Apex Legends Mobile will be taken down come May 1 2023. The game devs took to their official Twitter account to notify players that a painful decision was made, citing factors beyond their control. But Apex Legends Mobile isn't the only mobile title to be pulled by its publisher.

With Respawn being under Electronic Arts, the big-name publisher has also decided to shelve Battlefield Mobile after going through beta testing in select regions back in November 2022. And just like that, EA has pulled the plug on two popular FPS titles. But while Battlefield Mobile wasn't fully released just yet, Apex Legends Mobile couldn't even survive a full year.

And to make matters worse, refunds will not be given to players who have already spent money during its various collection events and battle passes over the last year. It also remains to be seen what happens to two of Apex Legends Mobile-exclusive legends, Rhapsody and Fade.

With many frustrated fans posting their queries on the official Twitter account, it's worth noting that it is after all, EA we are talking about here. However, the publisher has also gone on to say that it still plans to expand.

Our love for the Apex universe and our players remains unchanged. We look forward to exploring this universe, its characters, and its stories along with you.

While this could mean that Apex Legends Mobile could be making a return in the future, it remains to be seen just how much input EA and Respawn have to say on the matter. This news comes just 24 hours before the Apex Legends Global Series Split 1 Playoffs held in London, starting February 2.
