Championship Sunday brought with it a MPL ID Season 11 Grand Final between the unlikely EVOS Legends and the unstoppable ONIC Esports.
We have witnessed an amazing Season 11 from the Mobile Legends Professional League in Indonesia, with heartbreak, upsets, SAVAGES, and comebacks – but today would settle the score of which team would become the champion. The dynasty of Rex Regum Qeon came to an end at the hands of EVOS Legends who continued a miracle lower bracket run as a squad which had so much to play for. Unfortunately, their grand finals would put them against one the strongest MLBB teams in the world – ONIC Esports.
It is invincible ONIC time
There was a clear favourite for the Grand Finals, and as we went into the series it became apparent why the Yellow Porcupines have dominated this season and MPL ID in general. The addition of Kairi to their squad has made them even more prolific, with a Fanny performance in game one to rival the best – which could be himself. Kairi’s brilliance continued in game two with a tank Lancelot, but right off the bat there seemed no way for EVOS to ever take control of the series.
While a short break could have broken the concentration of ONIC, it did nothing of the sort, as another swift defeat awaited the White Tigers, as they struggled to come to grips with anything the reigning champions threw at them. At match, series, and championship point after three games of under 15-minutes each, ONIC marched forward into what would be the final game of the series.
In what could only be described as a massacre, ONIC Esports destroyed EVOS, with the full series lasting only a little under an hour in actual game time. Although EVOS had made some miracles happen previously to secure their spot in the grand finals, today saw not even an inkling of fight as they went down 0-4. While both teams will return to fight for Indonesia at MSC 2023, ONIC Esports claim the MPL ID Season 11 championship – their second in a row.
