The climb never ends. Here are the best heroes to play in every role in Season 36 of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang!
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) entered its 36th season with the release of a new hero in Kalea earlier this month. While the end date hasn't been announced yet, the climb to Mythical Glory has now started. Knowing which heroes to play will give players an edge over others on their journey to climb the ranked ladder.
For this list, we will present two types of heroes for each role. The first is the overpowered hero that you must pick or ban if you don't want the enemy team to get them. The second is the safe alternative, which rarely gets banned and is not as strong as the first hero but still gives you an edge in the team if you pick it. This choice ensures players still have a high chance to win the game.
Here is the list of the best heroes to play from each role in Season 36 of MLBB:
1. Jungle

Overpowered: Hanzo
Hanzo might be one of the most dangerous heroes in the game right now if left unchecked. His ability to safely deal heavy damage from afar might be one of the most broken in the game. He can also clear jungle monsters fast with his Ninjutsu: Demon Feast, which instantly devours a monster. While his Kinjutsu: Pinnacle Ninja can deal damage from far away, he can only be in this form for 13 seconds without getting any kills. Furthermore, it shares the same health bar as Hanzo. While he can't be killed in his Hanekage form, the shadow will return to him if its health is depleted, revealing Hanzo's position for six seconds.
Safe pick: Joy
Joy is easily one of the heroes with the highest magic damage in the game. However, her damage is based on how well the player plays her skills on the beat and positions her so she can cast her "Meow, Rhythm of Joy!" uninterrupted. The bulk of her damage is on her ultimate, “Ha, Electrifying Beats!”, which can only be cast with Beat Energy, in turn earned by casting her second skill repeatedly. Furthermore, her ultimate gets Spell Vamp if she can achieve a perfect rhythm by playing all her 2nd skill recasts on the beat. Her skill ceiling is high, but the payoff is that she is one of the highest mobility heroes in the game.
2. Roam

Overpowered: Kalea
Without a doubt, Kalea is one of the most broken heroes upon release, at the same level as Esmeralda without her shield cap or Fanny when she could solo Lord and Turtle in a matter of seconds. Kalea has high damage, high healing, and high crowd control. Her Wavebreaker damage and passive healing are based on how high her health is, so she can deal considerable damage just by building tank items. Furthermore, she is immune to crowd control when using her ultimate, displacing the enemy in her desired direction. She is a first round must-pick or ban hero in every game.
Safe pick: Jawhead
Jawhead is one of the most annoying heroes in the game thanks to his displacement and considerable damage. While he's not like Kalea due to her ability to heal, Jawhead can make enemies take more damage with his passive, making him a treasure for burst-heavy comp that needs to take out a target as quickly as possible. He is also tankier than Kalea, thanks to his shield from Ejector.
3. Mid lane

Overpowered: Selena
Selena instantly jumped into a must-pick in the mid lane with the recent buff and quality-of-life improvements she received. The mage-assassin hybrid can deliver long-duration hard crowd control to an enemy while simultaneously dealing high damage. Furthermore, her Abyssal Form enables her to deal tremendous damage and mobility if the enemy has stacked Abyssal Mark. Do be wary of ganks, as she is very vulnerable to getting picked off.
Safe pick: Cecilion
If a pure mage is more of your comfort zone, Cecilion is a must-pick as his damage in the mid game can melt even the beefiest tanks. His Bat Impact is easy to hit with high damage, while Sanguine Claws is a disruptive crowd control ability that further synergises with his nuke. He can also recover his health and kite the enemy with his Bats Feast. His damage can go uncontested in the late game if he accumulates enough stacks from his skills.
4. EXP Lane

Overpowered: Lukas
Being one of the newest heroes in the game, Lukas has the potential to single-handedly destroy the entire enemy team with his Sacred Beast form if left unchecked. He doesn't use mana, and almost all of his skills also give him some form of mobility. He can deliver great damage with a full-stack Flash Combo. Furthermore, he is hard to gank and highly durable due to his fighter nature. The only downside for him is that he needs a lot of time to restore his resolve mechanics.
Safe pick: Badang
Aside from Lukas, tanky and disruptive EXP Lane heroes are still well represented in the meta, and Badang is one of them. His ability to block enemies' movement while dishing considerable damage and disruptive crowd control makes him one of the most versatile and satisfying heroes to play. However, his mobility is slightly limited as his engage ability is also what he needs to disengage, making him a risky hero if not utilised correctly.
5. Gold Lane

Overpowered: Granger
Perhaps the most straightforward hero to pick for this list. When this list is published, no heroes in the Gold Lane can touch Granger when it comes to survivability, damage, utility, and carry potential. Instead of relying on his Basic Attack, Granger uses his Rhapsody and Death Sonata to deal damage without sacrificing mobility. Furthermore, he can also use Rondo when using his Rhapsody, making him even more slippery to catch. His only weakness is his low HP, a flaw he shares with almost every Marksman in the game. Always pick Granger if he's available.
Safe pick: Irithel
If burst damage is more to your taste, Irithel can be a safe pick for you as she rarely gets banned and can be dangerous in the mid game. While her late game potential is not the greatest, she can snowball earlier than other Marksman heroes. She can also kite her enemy with her Basic Attack, as she can move while attacking. However, her weakness is her instant repositioning. She must sacrifice either her ultimate or Flicker to get away if she gets ganked so heroes that can gap-close quickly can catch her off guard.
These are the best heroes to play in every role in Season 36 of MLBB. While these heroes can be a great reference, ultimately, your comfort pick can be your greatest ally because of the knowledge you have with them.
