Team Vitality defeat Team Falcons once again to win BLAST Rivals Spring 2025

Team Vitality continue to be the best CS2 team in the world, as they bagged their fifth trophy of the year to go with a historic 25-match win streak.

French Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) juggernauts Team Vitality won their fifth straight tournament this year at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 by outlasting Team Falcons, 3-2, in the grand finals on Monday (5 May). With their victory, Vitality claimed the grand prize of US$125,000 out of the tournament's US$300,000 prize pool.

Vitality continues to dominate the CS2 scene in 2025 following the team's landmark acquisition of Robin “ropz” Kool in January to be their second star alongside Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. Aside from raising their fifth straight trophy this year to go with winning the ESL Grand Slam Season 5, Vitality have also extended their historic match win streak to 25 consecutive victories, the second longest streak in the history of the game.

The BLAST Rivals Spring also saw the second consecutive grand finals clash in the brewing rivalry between Vitality and Falcons following the former's victory in Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne 2025 just a week ago. Falcons once again had to settle for a second place finish, and US$75,000 in consolation in their third straight tournament grand finals appearance.

Vitality outlast Falcons in second straight grand finals clash to win BLAST Rivals Spring

Vitality and Falcons topped their respective groups in the BLAST Rivals Spring Group Stage to earn a semifinals berth in the Playoffs. Falcons were the first to advance to the grand finals with a 2-0 sweep over MOUZ in Nuke (16-14) and Dust II (13-6). Vitality followed suit by scoring their own 2-0 sweep over Team Spirit in Mirage (13-8) and Nuke (13-9), with this victory notably seeing the French squad surpass Team Liquid's 23-match win streak in 2021 to secure the second longest win streak in the history of CS.

Following their five-game showdown in IEM Melbourne 2025 just a week ago, Vitality and Falcons clashed in the championship round once again. After another five-game thriller, Vitality emerged victorious to become the inaugural BLAST Rivals champions.

Falcons drew first blood in the grand finals by breaking Vitality's 16-map win streak in Inferno behind a showstopping performance from Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. The action in Inferno started with both sides in a 6-6 deadlock after the first half. Falcons then took control in the second half with a 5-1 run following the side switch. While Vitality managed to get nine rounds and threaten overtime, Falcons still managed to lock things down and secure the 13-9 win in Inferno. M0NESY topped the charts in game one with 23 frags and six assists against 14 deaths.

Vitality were quick to strike back in game two by breaking Falcons own eight-map win streak in Dust II. The French squad absolutely dominated the first half with a 9-3 score as the CT side as ZywOo made his presence known. While Falcons showed signs of life by winning the first three rounds of the second half, Vitality responded by winning the next four to secure the 13-6 win in Dust II and tie up the series at one map apiece.

ZywOo led the way for Vitality in Dust II with 17 frags and five assists on a map-best 10 deaths. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire also pitched in with 16 frags and 10 assists, which included a last millisecond knife kill to prevent a bomb defuse to win round 17, against 15 deaths.

The pivotal third game of the grand finals in Train then saw Vitality flex their muscles with another dominant 13-6 win. Vitality ended the first half up 7-5 as the T side, with ropz notably closing out the half with a clean 4K. While Falcons would win the second half's pistol round, Vitality continued rolling by scoring six consecutive rounds to take a commanding 2-1 series lead.

Shahar “flameZ” Shushan showed out for Vitality in Train with 20 frags and seven assists on 13 deaths, while William “mezii” Merriman put up 16 frags and four assists on a series-best eight deaths. Ropz also pitched in with 15 frags and two assists against nine deaths.

With their backs against the wall in game four at Mirage, Falcons roared their way back into the series by dominating the first half, 9-3, then winning the first three rounds of the second half to get within map point at 12-9. However, the trio of ZywOo, ropz, and mezii responded by sparking an incredible nine-round run for Vitality to force overtime.

Despite choking a 12-3 lead in regulation, Falcons managed to right the ship in overtime with a 4-2 outing capped off by an unreal 1v2 AWP clutch by m0NESY, to seal the 16-12 win for his team.

M0NESY put up a heroic 35 frags and five assists against 19 deaths, as four Falcons players recorded at least 20 frags to help force the grand finals to a deciding fifth game. René “TeSeS” Madsen had 22 frags and 13 assists on 23 deaths, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač added 21 frags and 12 assists on 26 deaths, while Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski pitched in with 20 frags and nine assists on 17 deaths.

Meanwhile, ZywOo racked up 25 frags and nine assists on 21 deaths, despite the loss for Vitality. Ropz also had 24 frags and four assists on 23 deaths, while mezii added 23 frags and eight assists against 25 deaths.

With the BLAST Rivals Spring championship on the line in game five at Nuke, ropz and ZywOo put on a show to lead Vitality to victory as their counterparts in Falcons floundered. Vitality entered the deciding map of the series with all guns blazing to lead 7-1 as the T side, though Falcons answered with four straight to trim their opponents' lead down to 7-5 come halftime.

Vitality had another fiery start in the second half and won four straight to extend their lead to 11-5. While Falcons showed signs of life by breaking their opponents' run with three straight of their own, they could do little to stop Vitality from claiming rounds 20 and 21 to secure the 13-8 win in Nuke and the 3-2 series victory.

Ropz pushed Vitality past the finish line with 24 frags and five assists on a map-best 10 deaths, while ZywOo pitched in with 20 frags and eight assists on 11 deaths.

Emil “Magisk” Reif top-fragged for Falcons in the game five loss with 14 frags and three assists on 16 deaths, as the team's star players failed to have much of an impact. M0NESY seemed to have run out of steam following his game four heroics, as he only recorded 13 frags and 13 assists on 17 deaths. Meanwhile, NiKo had an abysmal performance with only eight kills and six assists against 17 deaths to continue an unfortunate trend of poor performances in big games at Nuke.
