Assassin’s Creed Shadows joins Dead by Daylight in upcoming crossover

Assassin’s Creed Shadows still has a lot to offer its fans and, surprisingly, a crossover with Dead by Daylight is one of them.

There’s another new Dead by Daylight collaboration in the corner, and it’s probably one that most fans don’t expect: it’s crossing over with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The crossover was announced on 14 May via the official Assassin’s Creed X account:

The collaboration is set to launch on 27 May, which aligns with Shadows’ next major update.

“Step into The Fog,” reads a post on social media from the Assassin’s Creed account. “A new Dead by Daylight quest begins. Slip through the shadows. Survive the ordeal.”

A teaser video was also shared in the same post where Naoe and Yasuke sitting by a campfire, while a dark figure, who seems to be wearing a severly burnt armour, and is wreathed in glowing red flames around their arms and feet, seemingly approaches them. Exact details on the crossover are expected to be revealed at a later date.

This isn’t the first time the Assassin’s Creed franchise has dabbled in post-launch collaborations with other games. Final Fantasy’s Chocobo made an appearance in Assassin’s Creed Origins, and several Assassin’s Creed characters, like Ezio of Assassin's Creed 2, have been featured in Fortnite.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows roadmap teases new updates, DLC, and crossovers

Last month, Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft confirmed that Shadows would receive several “special collaboration” updates as part of its post-launch content roadmap.

According to the roadmap, the next update is set for June. It will add a second free quest, a new ally, new difficulty settings, and more immersive gameplay options. A fan-requested feature, the ability to wear headgear in cutscenes, will also be introduced.

Looking further ahead, Ubisoft plans to roll out a New Game Plus mode, additional story missions, codex updates, new Animus content, more rewards, and further “special collaborations."

The game’s first expansion, Claws of Awaji, is also slated to release “later this year.” Free for all players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the DLC will unlock the island of Awaji—a brand new region that continues Naoe and Yasuke’s story after the game’s epilogue. Players can expect new enemies, new abilities for both characters, and a new weapon for Naoe: the Bo staff.
