MPL Philippines Season 15 Week 6: TNC Pro Team qualifies for the Playoffs, one slot remains

Week 6 of MPL Philippines Season 15 saw TNC Pro Team successfully secure their spot in the Playoffs, leaving just one spot left with two weeks remaining.

TNC Pro Team successfully secured their slot in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 15 Playoffs in Week 6 of the Regular Season, putting an end to five miserable seasons without a Playoff appearance. Tristan “YAWI” Cabrera and his teammates performed well in the week by beating Smart Omega before losing to bottom dwellers Twisted Minds PH. TNC still has the chance to secure a better seeding in the Playoffs in the coming weeks

With TNC securing at least a fifth seed finish in the Regular Season, only one slot remains in the Playoffs with three teams still in contention. One team, however, has an advantage over the other two, as Twisted Minds PH managed to secure a crucial victory against TNC. This takes them one point above the AP.Bren and Smart Omega and one step closer to their Playoff debut.

Here are the MPL Philippines Season 15 Regular Season standings by the end of Week 6:

  1. Team Liquid PH (10-1) +15 Game difference (GF)
  2. Aurora Gaming (9-1) +12 GF
  3. ONIC Philippines (7-3) +8 GF
  4. Team Falcons PH (7-4) +5 GF
  5. TNC Pro Team (4-5) -1 GF
  6. Twisted Minds PH (2-9) -12 GF
  7. AP.Bren (1-9) -13 GF
  8. Smart Omega (1-9) -14 GF

A long-awaited Playoff return for TNC

After a Playoff drought of five seasons for TNC, the team finally returned to the promised land with a victory over Smart Omega. This is the second time the organisation has reached the Playoffs in its long participation in MPL Philippines. The last time they reached the Playoffs was in Season 9, when mid laner Jomearie “Escalera” Delos Santos broke out to lead the team to a third place finish in the league.

Despite their long history, TNC is one of the most underperforming teams over their tenure in the league. Since their debut in Season 8, they have finished in eighth place six times out of seven. The only time they didn't finish in eighth place before Season 15 was the aforementioned Season 9.

This season, with the recruitment of Tristan “YAWI” Cabrera and Frederic Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales, TNC looked more solid in the Gold Lane as both players became the anchors for the entire team, especially for Lance Cunanan “LanceCy” Cunanan. The pair also gave coach Douglas "Imbadeejay" Joseph Astibe II a chance to rotate the other lanes depending on the situation at hand.

It will be interesting to see if TNC can perform better in Season 15 than their Season 9 tenure.

A ray of hope for Twisted Minds PH

One ray of hope was bestowed upon Twisted Minds PH after their clean 2-0 victory over TNC Pro Team in Week 6 of MPL Philippines Season 15. The victory meant they had a lead over AP.Bren and Smart Omega in the leaderboard. Furthermore, they now have a better GF than both, with -12 after the win. This will be a major boost to their push to the Playoffs, especially with three series remaining for them while the other two still have four matches.

During the press conference held by MPL Philippines after the TNC-Twisted Minds PH match, Bennyqt mentioned that Twisted Minds PH executed their game plan well. However, he also noted that the team didn't play unexpectedly and said that their playstyle remained the same as in previous games.

If what Bennyqt said is true, then Twisted Minds PH needs to address it, as previous records show them only getting a victory over fellow bottom dwellers AP Bren. Their next two games are also crucial for their campaign this season, as they will play both AP.Bren and Smart Omega, and victory over both of them will certainly secure their spot in the Playoffs.

MPL Philippines Season 15 will continue with Week 7 on Friday (25 April) after a two-week break. Fans can still enjoy some Mobile Legends action with the Snapdragon Pro Series 2025: Masters in the coming weeks before returning to the usual MPL Philippines excitement.
