New Eridu's superstar will be introduced to the game in 2025.
A new Zenless Zone Zero character has been revealed by HoYoverse at The Game Awards: New Eridu’s superstar, Astra Yao.
Astra Yao was featured in a brand-new trailer for ZZZ, along with an unknown new character and some of the characters in Section 6, including the highly-anticipated S-rank characters Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa, and Versiob 1.3’s Tsukishiro Yanagi. In the trailer, Astra Yao was seen strolling down Sixth Street, accompanied by an enigmatic figure. She stopped right outside Random Play, where she reminisced about walking down the red carpet, with cameras flashing to take her photo. As she does, we saw the side profile of the unknown character following Astra Yao. “Target detected, prepare for action,” the unknown character said.
The scene then transitioned to a thrilling clash between Section Six and a formidable foe called Sacrifice, before cutting back to Astra Yao, who sang a song on stage.
As her spellbinding melody drew to a close, the mysterious figure in the shadows took a look at the photo in her hand, while watching from afar.
If you’re a keen-eyed player, you'll know that Astra Yao has already made cameos in-game, and can be seen on various posters and billboards across New Eridu. There’s even an article about her on the Interknot, mostly sharing details about her concert details.
The trailer did not indicate anything much about Astra Yao apart from the trailer, and the devs have yet to share more official news on her playability and potential combat kit. Players can expect to know more about Astra Yao in 2025.
