The Swiss Stage portion of Elite League has come to an end with eight teams making the cut to advance to the Round Robin stage.
Elite League's long and drawn-out group stage portion is now halfway over. Sixteen teams entered the fray for the Swiss Stage (nine from qualifiers and seven invited), only eight survived to advance to the Round Robin stage.
The Swiss Stage isn't something that has been used in Dota 2 often. But what makes it fun is the more games won in a row, the fewer games needed to play to move ahead. This means teams that qualified or eliminated the earliest played less, while others that alternated between winning and losing had more.
Perhaps one of the most upsetting, but not surprising eliminations was that of Nigma, who just can't seem to make things work despite their star-studded lineup featuring Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, and Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi.
They were eliminated at the hands of Team Secret, who also made an early exit soon after.
There is no rest for the wicked though, the teams that advanced will immediately compete in the Round Robin stage beginning today, April 5th.
The action kicks off early with one series from each group.
