Marvel’s first family is joining Marvel Rivals in Season 1.

It’s way too early for Halloween, but that won't stop Marvel Rivals from launching its spooky Dracula-themed first season of content. The hero shooter is kicking off its live-service content by bringing Marvel's first family into the mix as playable characters, in advance of the family’s big-screen debut in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four.

Here's a trailer for Marvel Rivals Season 1:

Marvel Rivals introduces the Fantastic Four to playable roster

Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four, are set to join Marvel Rivals. The hero shooter has released a trailer for its first season of content, entitled Eternal Night Falls, confirming the release of four upcoming playable characters: Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch.

This season’s cover art also showed off the family’s helper robot H.E.R.B.I.E., along with what appears to be this game’s version of the Fantasticar. Oddly enough, the superhero team will be dealing with a more supernatural threat than their sci-fi comicbook trappings typically allow for: the vampire Dracula. Here is NetEase Games’ description of the trailer:

Darkness engulfs New York as the Timestream Entanglement leaves Doctor Strange trapped in the Entangled Astral Plane, scattering the Darkhold pages. Dracula and Doctor Doom disrupt the moon's orbit, plunging the city into eternal night and unleashing an army of vampiric creatures

The description continues: "With the world on the brink, the Fantastic Four join forces with iconic Marvel heroes, standing together in the epic battle to break the mystical darkness with science. Ignite the battle against Dracula with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals!"

A new developer video has also shed light on Season 1’s full breadth of content. Season 1 will add the Fantastic Four in two halves, with Invisible Woman (Strategist) and Mister Fantastic (Duelist) arriving in the first half, followed by the Human Torch (Duelist) and the Thing (Vanguard) in the second half. Three new maps, limited-time events and a game mode called Doom Match are also being added to the game.

These three maps are Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum and Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown (arriving in the first half) and Central Park (second half). Season 1 will also launch with an expanded battle pass, following Season 0’s mini battle pass. Presumably, we’ll see Dracula and horror-themed cosmetic items in the battle pass.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 launches on January 10, 2025.
