On Day 1 of the Mobile Legends Professional League’s twelfth season playoffs in the Philippines, we saw Blacklist International and ONIC PH give us an amazing five-game series, which ended with The Agents claiming a 3-2 victory. However, today their task became much tougher, as they faced off against the reigning MPL PH champions, ECHO – a team they had not beaten for a year. Against all odds, the three-time champions of PH managed to steamroll ECHO without too many problems.
Blacklist breaks the curse
Having claimed a strong first-game victory, with Yue’s Valentina dominating as he always does, ECHO was quick to respond with a fantastic game to tie the series. The series was intense, and game three showed that, with the Orcas and the Agents fighting blow-for-blow, in a close match-up where neither wanted to give the other a chance to capitalise. But it took one fight around Lord, where KarlTzy managed to take the objective, but OHEB’s Bruno cleaned up to push Blacklist 2-1 up.
When it seemed as though ECHO was ready to tie the series up again, with Bennyqt’s Karrie shredding his opponents, the reigning champions slipped up. OHEB’s Bruno was in the thick of things once again, defending the base and effectively wiping out ECHO. With a final march through the middle lane, Blacklist claimed a massive victory, punishing the mistakes of their opponents and heading through to the upper bracket finals.
With the win, Blacklist breaks their losing streak versus ECHO, which now puts them just a single series win away from reaching the M5 World Championship. For ECHO, not all is lost just yet, as they move down into the lower bracket, where they will need to pick up the pieces and return stronger when they face their next challenger.
