Trigger’s got you in her sights. Here’s how to build her for maximum impact.
The newest playable character in Zenless Zone Zero is here! Trigger, a lightning stun agent, is a sniper from the Obol Squad of the New Eridu Defense Force's Obsidian Division. She was given the code name "Trigger" upon enlisting in Eridu, and has used it ever since.
As a playable character, Trigger contributes to teams during combat primarily through consistent off-field support and Daze buildup, making her a powerful backline enabler for sustained pressure and stun setups.
If you’re looking to build your electric team and already have Trigger in your roster, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the ultimate guide for Trigger’s combat kit, gameplay, and build.
Trigger's Kit
Sniper Stance & Purge
Holding down the basic attack puts Trigger into Sniper Stance. Each successful shot accumulates Purge, displayed in a bar beneath her avatar. Each sniper shot grants 25 Purge, up to a maximum of 100 Purge. Releasing the basic attack after four shots delivers a finishing strike, activates a Quick Assist from the previous teammate, and returns Trigger to off-field.
Off-field Follow-Up Attacks
While off-field, Trigger automatically performs Follow-up Attacks (FuAs) when the active character attacks using Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, Dodge Counters, Ex Specials, or Quick Assists. Each FuA costs 3 Purge and has a 3-second cooldown.
For Ex Specials, Assist Follow-Ups, or Ultimates, she performs a stronger FuA with more damage and Daze, costing 5 Purge (max twice every 20 seconds).
After using her Ex Special or Ultimate, she enters Coordinated Support mode, gaining free FuA charges (4 for Ex Special, 6 for Ultimate, up to 10). In this mode, FuAs have no cooldown and don’t consume Purge. The Purge bar turns yellow when charges are available and blue when depleted.
How to Play Trigger

Long-Distance Stun Specialist
Trigger excels at sniping enemies from afar while increasing their Daze. Holding Basic ATK initiates sniping mode to accumulate Purge, and releasing it triggers a Quick Assist. With Purge active, Trigger assists whenever the on-field agent deals damage.
Enter Coordinated Support
Using Trigger’s Ex Special Attack allows a Quick Assist swap. In this mode, she deals off-field damage through Aftershock Attacks without consuming Purge.
Maintain Aftershock Attacks
When Aftershock duration ends, switch to Trigger and use her Ultimate or trigger a Chain Attack to deal massive Electric DMG and maintain Coordinated Support.
Trigger Skill Priority

- Core Skill, Basic Attack, and Special Attack should be prioritised for optimal Daze.
- Chain Attack is also important for overall damage and Daze.
- Her second core passive boosts Follow-up Attack Daze based on Critical Rate, making high CRIT builds essential.
Best W-Engines

- Spectral Gaze – Reduces enemy DEF by 25% for 5s when dealing Electric DMG via Aftershock. Gaining Spirit Lock stacks increases Impact.
- The Restrained – Increases DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks by 6% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times.
- Ice-Jade Teapot – Increases Impact per stack and boosts team ATK when over 15 stacks.
- Hellfire Gears – Enhances Energy Regen and boosts Impact after using Ex Special Attack.
- Six Shooter – Grants Charge stacks every 3s, consumed for increased Daze when using Ex Special Attack.
- Precious Fossilized Core – Increases Daze against targets with 50%+ HP, further boosted when above 75% HP.
Best Drive Discs

There are two viable build paths for Drive Discs when building Trigger.
Damage-focused
For a damage-centric build, go with a 4-piece Shadow Harmony set. If your crit rate is falling short, consider mixing in a 2-piece Woodpecker set instead. Hitting a 90% crit rate through substats alone can be tough, so this combo helps smooth that out. As for main stats, aim for crit rate in slot 4, Electric DMG Bonus in slot 5, and ATK% in slot 6. This setup pairs nicely with Soldier 0 – Anby’s crit damage boosts, letting Trigger shine as a supportive damage dealer.
Stun-focused
Alternatively, for a stun-focused setup, a full 4-piece Shockstar Disco set is the way to go. This build shifts Trigger into a more classic Stun role. You’ll still want crit rate% in slot 4 and Electric DMG Bonus% in slot 5, but slot 6 should prioritise Impact to maximise her ability to stagger enemies.
When it comes to substats, prioritise crit rate above all, followed by crit damage, then ATK%. This ensures Trigger can consistently chip away at enemy toughness while still offering a respectable damage output.
Best Teams and Bangboo

Aftershock
- Trigger (Stun)
- Pulchra (Stun)
- Soldier 0 Anby (Attack)
- Bangboo: Plugboo
- Alternative Bangboo: Sumoboo, Electroboo, Knightboo
One of the most effective team setups for Trigger would be one that triggers Aftershock, with the other two agents being Anby and Pulchra.
Anby and Pulchra synergise well with Trigger’s Aftershock mechanic, ensuring frequent stuns and sustained Aftershock uptime. Trigger’s FuAs apply Daze off-field, helping accelerate stuns. Once an enemy is stunned, Trigger enters Aftershock mode, where her off-field attacks deal increased damage.
Anby and Pulchra both trigger Aftershock through their own abilities. Anby’s Ex Special and Ultimate apply high Daze, while Pulchra’s rapid attacks and abilities contribute to stun buildup, ensuring the team can chain stuns efficiently. Since all three can maintain Aftershock while off-field, the team can continuously cycle between Daze, stuns, and Aftershock-enhanced damage without disrupting rotations, making them an optimal trio for stun-focused strategies. Another alternative option to Pulchra is Astra Yao.
Electric – Ether
- Trigger (Stun)
- Astra (Support)
- Harumasa (Attack)
- Bangboo: Plugboo
- Alternative Bangboo: Sumoboo, Electroboo, Knightboo
If you don’t have Silver Solider Anby in your team and need an Electric team, the next best bet is Harumasa, paired with Astra Yao, for additional buffs.

HSO6 special operation
- Miyabi: Main DPS
- Trigger: Sub-DPS, Support, Buffer (With Sig W-Engine), Stun, Aftershock
- Yanagi: Main DPS, Disorder Buffer, Disorder Trigger
- Bangboo: Agent Gulliver
- Alternative: Electroboo, Magnetiboo, Penguinboo
Trigger forms a powerful new team for Miyabi, who can be a good option if you don’t have Astra Yao. Miyabi and Yanagi can trigger each other's Additional Ability, while Yanagi and Trigger also activate each other's effects, ensuring strong synergy.
Double Stun
- Evelyn (Attack)
- Trigger: (Support, Buff (with signature w-engine), stun)
- Lighter: (Stun, Sub-DPS)
- Bangboo: Snap
- Alternative: Rocketboo, Red Moccus
A double stunner team is viable since Trigger spends minimal time on the field, allowing room for a second stunner and a DPS, such as Evelyn. Ideally, the second stunner should also have low field time to ensure the DPS can deal damage when needed. While Lighter is the strongest option, you can also opt for Qingyi and Pulchra.

F2P Team
- Trigger (Stun)
- Nicole (Support)
- Billy (Attack)
- Bangboo: Booressure
- Alternatives: Avocaboo, Electroboo
If you’re just starting out and now have Trigger in your team, a good F2P option would be Nicole and Billy.
With this guide, we’re hoping you’re able to maximise Trigger in a way that fits your playstyle. Have fun sniping in style!
