MPL ID Season 12: Two upsets to kick off Week 6

Two reverse sweeps and two upsets are what we saw on the first day back to MPL ID Season 12’s Regular Season after the break.

After a break which lasted a little over two weeks, the Mobile Legends Professional League’s twelfth season in Indonesia returned for the final three weeks of its Regular Season. Day 1 has passed us by, and with it came two massive upsets in the form of two reverse sweeps from two teams which began the week in the bottom three places. Both Dewa United Esports and Rebellion Zion managed to keep their calm after a loss and take down two of the toughest opponents in Indonesia’s MPL, boosting their chances of surviving the Regular Season.

Opening up Week 6 we saw RBL taking on the log-topping Rex Regum Qeon, which should have been quite a simple series for the Kings of Kings. Having already beaten RBL in the same matchup earlier in the season, RRQ seemed poised to do so once more, but it would not be easy. Game one saw a strong fightback from RBL, extending the timer all the way beyond the 30-minute mark before they had any attempts for a comeback shutdown. However, over the next two games, the Paquito and Irithel picks paid off for RBL, as well as some crucial mistakes from RRQ, which allowed RBL to claim a 2-1 win.

DEWA completed the second reverse sweep after a very poor showing in the first game of their series versus Bigetron Alpha. Once again, having beaten DEWA earlier in the season, as well as having come in second place at the recent IESF World Championships, The Robots were primed to take a swift victory. While the first game saw some interesting picking from DEWA, which included an Angela, the rest of their series was pristine, as they shut Bigetron out and took a 2-1 victory. Much like in the RRQ series, big mistakes from The Robots opened the door for DEWA to capitalise and claim a much-needed victory.

While there still remains an entire weekend of MLBB action from MPL ID Season 12, Day 1 definitely produced some shocking results, which pushed both DEWA and RBL out of the elimination zone for the time being. While DEWA will be looking to cause more upsets as they face off against ONIC Esportsand EVOS Legends this weekend, RBL will be hoping to take down AURA FIRE in their next matchup.
