Hatsune Miku with a machine gun? It’s more likely than you think.
Epic Games has finally unveiled Fortnite’s long-rumoured crossover with musical icon Hatsune Miku. The popular Vocaloid character and musical artist will headline Fortnite Festival Season 7 when it launches this week, bringing lots of Miku-themed cosmetics and new music to the game.
In addition to Hatsune Miku, Godzilla is also finally arriving in Battle Royale as an in-game boss.
Hatsune Miku and Godzilla land in Fortnite
Hatsune Miku is headlining Fortnite Festival Season 7, a rhythm game mode that regularly features real-world musical stars. Miku’s arrival will be accompanied by a bundle of new cosmetics in the item shop, which can be used in most of Fortnite’s other game modes – including battle royale. Yes, that means you’ll be able to pump a shotgun as Hatsune Miku.
Two Hatsune Miku skins are available: a classic Hatsune Miku skin that will be available for purchase in the item shop, and a cat-like Neko Hatsune Miku skin. The latter is included in Fortnite Festival’s Music Pass. Also available are several instruments, two emotes, a musical contrail and a jam track – the song Miku, by Anamanaguchi.
Several jam tracks are also coming in the item shop this season, including World is Mine by ryo (Supercell) and Daisy 2.0 by Ashnikko. Additionally, this season also allows players to use a few of their musical instruments as pickaxes in Fortnite’s other modes. That allows your musical instruments to have more value outside of Fortnite Festival, at long last.
That's not all, though. Chapter 6 Season 1 was originally announced to include an appearance from the iconic kaiju Godzilla, and he's finally arrived. This week, Godzilla will apparently become an in-game boss on the battle royale map, if Epic’s new teaser is to be taken at face value. Players will also be able to earn a Godzilla skin by completing a series of quests in-game.
Interestingly, it looks like Epic has also managed to include Godzilla’s actual roar from the movies in-game. Previous trailers had shown off Godzilla with a very different roar, suggesting that there might have been some licensing issues gumming up the works behind the scenes.
All of this and more, in Fortnite’s new patch launching on January 14, 2025.
