M5 World Championship: SeeYouSoon returns

Cambodia’s SeeYouSoon returns to the M-Series after missing out on M4, and they’re looking to bring the KH’s special brand of MLBB to the forefront of M5.

Over the last few years, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has grown exponentially, and for some of the regions in Southeast Asia, this has been amazing to see. Cambodia is one of those regions, and although they have been in the M-Series since its inception, they now also have their own Mobile Legends Professional League, which has bolstered the teams from there even more. See You Soon missed out on qualifying for the M4 World Championship, but return again to M5, and will hope to improve drastically on their previous 9th-12th place finish at M3.

SYS comes into M5 with a mixed team, some heading into their second-ever M-Series event, and others on the main stage for the first time. Alongside this, the team has a total of two Philippines players on their roster, giving them a fantastic edge when it comes to the game itself. Having won the first-ever MPL tournament in Cambodia, SYS continued to be a dominant force in the region – but failed to reach their peak since then. With a few third-place and second-place finishes, the team finally found their strength again and took a brilliant victory at MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 – a grand final worth watching.

The M-Series

While maybe not as versed as some teams in the M-Series, SYS still brings in three players who have been to M3, which can give them some kind of edge in the long run. The team never really got off the mark, but still managed a single 2-0 victory to reach the second round of the lower bracket – where they had a chance to upset TODAK but eventually failed to their opponent’s experience. M5 gives SYS a huge chance to show how much they have improved since then, as they hope to get the Group Stage off to a good start.

The formula

SYS seem to come to life during the playoff stage of tournaments more so than early on, as they look to understand their opponent’s playstyle first before taking control. This can be both a curse and a blessing when it comes to M5, as they go into a group with tough challenges that they can look to overcome. Both Kusey and FELIX are both amazing in their roles, and the addition of MP the King as a secondary PH import has definitely bolstered the team. The team excels with heroes such as X.Borg, Novaria, and Baxia, all of which could see potential bans very often – depending on the patch, so they will need to adapt on the fly.

Group A will definitely be quite a challenging one for three of the teams involved since it’s ONIC Esports who should sit firmly atop the standings by the end. However, SYS certainly has a high chance of causing an upset and taking a few wins as they go in search of glory. The team’s M5 run begins on December 3rd, 2023, with a series versus Bigetron Sons, before they go against the likes of Triple Esports and ONIC throughout the Group Stage.
