Friday February 17, 2023, will see the next exciting season of MPL PH kick off, as the eight teams get ready to fight to become champions of the region.
Philippines has consistently proven itself to be the absolute strongest region in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with dominant performances at MSC events, as well as M-Series events for the last few years. The players and teams have given us some of the greatest performances in the history of the game – and the fans have responded in tune, showing their love for their favourite teams across the board. On February 17, 2023, the eleventh season of MPL PH kicks off, with eight teams looking to dethrone Blacklist International – and this may just be another season where this occurs. With that in mind, we take a look at the teams that we feel are most likely to take the title this season.
An ECHO in the deep
ECHO’s brilliant and beautiful M4 World Championship victory is still fresh in our minds, as we watched the squad absolutely dismantle Blacklist International, amongst other teams too. Coming into Season 11, ECHO have retained their championship roster, and have certainly set their sights on their next title – the MPL PH crown. With that said, RSG PH (now RSG Slate PH) were only able to claim third place, after dominating MPL PH Season 9 and MSC 2022. ECHO will be hoping to avoid that pitfall, as they are easily one of our favourites for the Season 11 crown.
Reigning champions
Although it seems as though the new Blacklist roster could easily fall apart within the greatest MLBB region, the team retain two of their strongest players at their core – the V33Wise duo. Again, without coach Bon Chan, Hadji, or Oheb, things could quickly go south, but Blacklist have always been a team to pull themselves through when it matters most. This season will be the biggest test for the team, but with the addition of Renejay, maybe they will find a new path to the crown.
Bren bang on the door
Bren Esports fell a long way really fast during Season 7 and 8 of MPL PH, but the team just seemed to need some time to adjust to roster and meta changes. During Season 10 it was fantastic to watch Bren make a triumphant return, as they showed us just what they were made of. While it was not a top three finish, Bren’s younger roster, with Pheww to lead, is going to be one to look out for this season. With a new coach, who has been a part of both TNC Pro Team and Bigetron Alpha, Bren could be back in the running for the title.
Never to be left out
It is very tough to leave out any team when it comes to Philippines, as every single team has been amazing at one point or another – even if it has been causing major upsets during the regular season. With that said, both ONIC PH and RSG Slate MY have to be mentioned, as two teams which could certainly find their path to the top again this season. For ONIC, some major roster changes recently have pushed them down, but we know that this teams belongs at the top. For RSG, their rebranding could be just what they need to return to the top as the Kingslayers.
Smart Omega Esports is another team that cannot be counted out, but without Ch4knu, Z4pnu, E2MAX, and Kielvj, this team could have to do a lot of work to bring themselves up again. With that said, much like Blacklist, their core of Kelra and Raizen remains, which can keep them going.
While we have not mentioned Nexplay EVOS and TNC, the two teams are still strong, but remain unable to really contend with the likes of ECHO or Blacklist. However, upsets can (and probably will) happen, especially when it comes to MPL PH – and we are waiting with baited breath for Season 11 to kick off on February 17.
