Jeff the Land Shark is popular, but he doesn’t guarantee wins in-game.
NetEase Games has officially published hero stats for Marvel Rivals just before its first season of content launches, revealing hero pick and win rates in the current version. While this list is bound to change with future additions to the roster, including Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, it does include every single playable character currently available in-game.
Surprisingly, it also reveals that Jeff the Land Shark isn’t the meta pick players might have assumed him to be.
Marvel Rivals unveils pick and win rates for popular heroes
In case you were wondering who the strongest and most popular playable characters in Marvel Rivals are, we now have a definitive list courtesy of NetEase to help us crunch those numbers. Players will be unsurprised to see that Jeff the Land Shark has proven to be the most popular in-game hero to date, with a 21.18% pick rate.
Venom sits just behind the adorable little creature with a 19.09% pick rate, while Cloak & Dagger come in third at 18.81%. The list also shows us the game’s least popular heroes, however: Storm bottoms out the list with a mere 1.66% of players picking her, with Namor slightly above her with a 2.76% pick rate. Black Widow comes in third-last with a 2.93% pick rate.
It should be noted that this only applies to Quick Play, as the game’s Competitive pick rates look a little different. Luna Snow is the most popular hero on console for example, with a 20.66% pick rate. Storm still finds herself at the bottom, with an even lower 0.69% pick rate.
Hero win rates differ greatly from pick rates. Jeff has a relatively low win rate despite his popularity, with 45.39% and 44.38% of matches won in Quick Play and Competitive, respectively. In Quick Play and Competitive, it’s Mantis who is most consistent at winning matches, with a 56.03% and 55.20% win rate respectively. Conversely, Black Widow wins the least number of matches, with a 44.15% win rate in Quick Play and 41.07% in Competitive.
Expect these numbers to be shaken up when Season 1 of Marvel Rivals drops, bringing four new playable characters and a number of balance changes to the game starting on 10 January, 2025.
