Earlier teased at The Game Awards 2024, Zenless Zone Zero has revealed Astra Yao.
HoYoverse has revealed an Agent Record for an upcoming playable character in Zenless Zone Zero named Astra Yao. This Agent was previously featured in a teaser shown at The Game Awards 2024, which ran through the game’s Version 1.4 content and beyond. While the teaser kept most viewers in the dark on Astra’s playstyle, we now know her attribute, faction, and specialty.
Astra Yao drip marketing reveals more details on the future Agent
Zenless Zone Zero’s hotly-anticipated Version 1.5 update hasn’t even arrived yet, but HoYoverse appears ready to dive into its 2025 slate of new and upcoming characters. The developer has released an all-new Agent Record diving into new character Astra Yao’s lore and gameplay details.
According to the drip marketing, Astra Yao is a Support character with the Ether attribute – which makes her a solid upgrade or teammate with Nicole from the Cunning Hares faction, in theory. She belongs to an all-new in-game faction called the Stars of Lyra. This faction appears to consist of either famous musicians, or the team of people supporting them behind the scenes.
Astra ostensibly belongs in the former category, seeing as she’s described as “a monarch of music with an irresistibly powerful voice.” If you’ve been playing Zenless Zone Zero for a while, you will have noticed posters in the game’s environments – most prominently in Lumina Square – teasing Astra’s impending arrival. It appears that the singer is a musical superstar in New Eridu, and will soon become entangled in Belle and Wise’s lives.
While it’s too early to speculate on Astra’s playstyle, we do at least get a good look at her weapon – a strange contraption that appears to include a CD player. Visually, her design falls in line with another recently-revealed Stars of Lyra Agent: Astra’s manager Evelyn.
Astra and Evelyn will arrive sometime in 2025, presumably as part of Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 1.5 update in January.
