United States Vice Presidential Democratic candidate Tim Walz streamed one of his favourite games on Twitch this week: Sega's Crazy Taxi. Walz joined congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitch channel for a livestream in advance of the upcoming US election, where the duo played Madden NFL 25 before he pulled out Crazy Taxi for a chaotic gameplay demonstration.

Tim Walz, the Vice Presidential candidate for the Democratic party running alongside Presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 United States President Election, seems to be trying to get in touch with young voters. Walz appeared on congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitch channel this week to talk about the upcoming election, while also playing a few rounds of Madden NFL 25.
However, Walz didn’t leave the stream before pulling out an old favourite: Crazy Taxi. The VP candidate said that he didn’t want to leave before showing Ocasio-Cortez some Crazy Taxi gameplay, and despite admitting “I'm terrible, I don't know the controllers on Xbox,” he actually turned out to be quite good at the game.
While picking characters (he chose Axel), he noted that “You can pick these characters and I found this out - this might be the coolest thing I've had happen to me - there's a character of me in there," which is likely a reference to a recent mod that added Walz to the game.
Walz insinuated that he preferred the game over Grand Theft Auto because “it was a little bit harsh,” though Ocasio-Cortez argued that it was “also chaotic.” She also asked him “Is this how you drive in real life?” as the politician bobbed and weaved through traffic at dangerously high speeds. In response, Walz said “Is that a smartass comment about New York?”
Tim Walz is a gamer. Who knew? Ocasio-Cortez is no slouch, either - she started the stream by playing a bit of Stardew Valley before Walz hopped in.
