Franchise baddie Heihachi Mishima returns in Tekken 8 with a new story chapter.
This year’s installment of Evo saw the surprising announcement of an upcoming DLC character for Tekken 8: Heihachi Mishima, a returning villain who seemingly met his end in Tekken 7. He will be Tekken 8’s third DLC character after Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska, joining the playable roster in Autumn 2024.
Heihachi Mishima announced as DLC fighter for Tekken 8
Heihachi Mishima is officially joining Tekken 8’s playable roster, following an announcement at the annual fighting game esports event Evo. The formerly dead villain will be resurrected for a DLC story mode chapter called The Dark Awakens, which serves as a continuation of the bloody Kazama and Mishima family feud.
Heihachi has been featured in the playable roster of every Tekken game to date, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that he’s coming to Tekken 8 too. The only reason he might not have appeared in the franchise’s latest installment is that he seemed to die in Tekken 7, after being slain by his son Kazuya Mishima. Kazuya threw Heihachi’s corpse into molten lava after an arduous fight, so it’s unclear how Heihachi has returned here.
Heihachi is Tekken 8’s third DLC character in total, after Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska.
Lidia is currently playable in early access for Year 1 Pass DLC buyers before her official release date on July 25. Heihachi is currently scheduled to launch sometime in Autumn 2024. Evo 2024 also announced the location of the 2024 Tekken World Tour Finals, which is now set to take place in Tokyo this December.
