Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia revealed for The Witcher Season 4
Netflix has unveiled an official first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in The Witcher Season 4. The actor replaces Henry Cavill in the role, and will go on to reprise Geralt for The Witcher Season 5, which is planned to be the series’ final season. The actor is perhaps best known for his role as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games movie trilogy, but he looks quite different here to say the least.
The first look was revealed via an Entertainment Weekly article, which dives into detail on the recast. The video follows Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia from behind as he leads his horse Roach through what appears to be a foggy swamp. Eventually, Geralt stops and turns to give the camera a better look at his brooding face - which isn’t too shabby, honestly. He looks much the same as Cavill did in the role, sporting Geralt’s signature white mane, yellow eyes, and witcher armour.
The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich said about the recasting:
His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia [...] Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1 — scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us.
Here’s a better look at Hemsworth’s Geralt, shared by Entertainment Weekly:
The Witcher Season 4 will see two more actors join the main cast: Laurence Fishburne as Regis and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay. The rest of the series’ cast will return, including Freya Allen as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 4 is currently in production, but Netflix has not announced a firm release date yet.
