As if Goku wasn’t overpowered before, now he has a shotgun.
Fortnite has announced its next big crossover event, and it surprisingly involves Dragon Ball. Characters from the anime and manga franchise will hit the game next week on August 16, though a full reveal of these cosmetics has yet to come. Epic Games’ announcement tweet only hinted at the date, with an image of the glowing wish dragon Shenron:
The image above depicts Shenron, a wish dragon that gets summoned out of the Dragon Balls to grant their holders’ wishes. While it’s unlikely that this crossover includes a Shenron skin, we wouldn’t put it past Epic to include the dragon as a glider or backpack. Right now, the actual contents of this crossover are unconfirmed - but Epic’s past collaborations have always at least included a music pack, skins, backpacks, pickaxes and gliders.
The bigger collabs, like Fortnite x Naruto, even included a new themed location for players to visit on the battle royale map along with a story quest to complete for cosmetic rewards. Dragon Ball is a massive franchise comprising multiple series - from Dragon Ball Z to Dragon Ball GT, so there are endless characters and variants of those characters to include in this event.
Getting Goku as a skin is a safe bet, along with Vegeta. Since the event is happening close to the release of Dragon Ball: Super Hero, the latest movie in the franchise, we could see more characters from that movie show up too. If we had to speculate, we’d say that the main quest has to involve players collecting Dragon Balls from all around the map - but that might be more wishful thinking than anything else.
Fortunately, we don't have to play guessing games since leaks are abundant in the Fortnite community (turn back now if you still want to be surprised!). According to these leaks, the event will introduce four Dragon Ball character skins, three of which are Goku, Vegeta and Beerus. The fourth will likely be Bulma, and each skin will have a built-in emote that unlocks their Super Saiyan forms. The event will also run for seven weeks with unique challenges and punch cards, so make no mistake: this is a big one!
