Natlan’s right around the corner, and we’re here to get you ready for this explosive new region.
We’ve given our recommendations for which 4-star characters you could build as you prepare for the nation of fire, so this time around, it’s time for the 5-stars to shine!
Much like in the 4-stars list, we’ll be focusing on 5-star characters who can do well in Burning and Overload teams, as well as what gear you can equip them with. To reiterate, the Burning reaction, caused by combining Pyro and Dendro, deals continuous Pyro damage in a set duration of time. While powerful, Burning can also harm active party members in the overworld, complicating its use. The Overload reaction on the other hand, which is triggered by Pyro and Electro, causes an explosive knockback, which is useful for crowd control but can disrupt strategies against single opponents. Here’s who we think can shine when you start your journey in Natlan come on the 28th of August.
Dehya
- DPS
- Overload
- Pyro
- Claymore
Dehya is one of the most misunderstood characters in Genshin Impact, and it’s definitely because her kit is well…unfortunate to say it kindly. However, dedicated Dehya fans have found ways to amp up Dehya’s usability and damage dealing, which means that if you’re invested enough, you can give your Dehya the chance to become what she truly was meant to be: a powerful damage dealer.
In this setup, Dehya will fully utilise the Overload reaction in tandem with an on/off field electro subDPS like Raiden Shogun, while being supported by Chevreuse as the Overload buffer. Bennett will complete this team by being an ATK buffer and extra healer when the going gets tough.
Dehya won’t need much investment when it comes to her gear or artifacts. Since you’re going to be relying on having Dehya’s burst up at every possible time, Favonius Greatsword, which ascends with Energy Recharge, is your best bet for her weapon. While a full set of Tenacity of the Milelith for her artifacts will give her more HP and can support your whole team.
Klee
- DPS
- Overload/Burning
- Pyro
- Catalyst
Our favourite bombing wonder from Mondstadt, Klee, may have lost her footing at the top of the meta in recent versions, but she might make an explosive comeback thanks to Overload and Burning.
Klee is a small character, so it’s difficult to play her as a DPS when you’re facing mobs. But thanks to Overload being a small explosion in of itself that sends enemies flying, Klee will be relatively on the safer side as enemies will have difficulty rushing towards her.
Burning is also a viable reaction for her to use as Klee is a catalyst user. Similar to Yanfei, she will be much farther away from self-damage due to environmental Burning.
Klee will need some minor investments to increase her power, like equipping her with the 5-star catalyst Lost Prayer to the Sacred Wind for that Crit boost. For artifacts, Crimson Witch of Flames will always be your best (and only!) bet.
Yae Miko
- Sub/Support
- Overload
- Pyro
- Catalyst
Yae Miko has been one of the best off-field Electro applicators in Genshin Impact’s current Hyperbloom meta, so who’s to say she won’t do great in an Overload team?
Yae’s targeting system is perfect for mobs who need to be blasted away, so pairing her up with a Pyro DPS is one of the better choices when you’re looking into making as much damage as possible. Once again, a crowd-control character like Venti or Kazuha is also integral to making this team composition work.
For Yae’s gear, your best bet will be her best-in-slot weapon Kagura’s Verity, although she can also work well with the 4-star The Widsith. Since Yae scales with ATK, it’s best to equip her with Gladiator’s Finale, or a mixture of both Gladiator’s Finale and Thundering Fury, the latter providing an additional Electro DMG bonus.
Yoimiya
- DPS
- Overload/Burning
- Pyro
- Bow
Yoimiya had been a polarising character since her release back in version 2.0, as it seemed like she just didn’t work out for the standard Vaporize/Melt teams, thanks to her quickfire Pyro DMG through her skill that relies on her internal targeting system.
But dedicated Yoimiya fans have found a way to make her work by putting her into an Overload team composition, which gave her a boost in usability and DPS capability. Slot her in with Yae Miko, Chevreuse, and Venti or Kazuha and you’re on your way to destroying mobs in seconds.
Investment for building Yoimiya for an Overload team is pretty easy as well, as Yoimiya can work best even with just the 4-star weapon Rust, but if you have her signature bow, Thundering Pulse, you’re basically good to go. For artifacts, her signature set, Shimenawa's Reminiscence, will be your best and only option.
