Fnatic ONIC and EVOS Glory to proceed to upper bracket finals after a bloody series against Geek Fam and Bigetron Alpha.
Fnatic ONIC and EVOS Glory advanced to the upper bracket finals in MPL Indonesia Season 13 after a nail-biter of a series against Geek Fam ID and Bigetron Alpha, respectively. Both will fight at the upper bracket finals to determine who will attend the Grand Finals and a spot in MSC 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
When somebody said MPL Indonesia was the Fnatic ONIC show, people will remember how close they were to losing the series against Geek Fam this season, as both teams were just trying to outsmart each other with their macro play.
Fnatic ONIC, known for their objective play, struggled to open their play when faced against Geek Fam. The runner-up of MPL ID S12 showed that it wasn’t a fluke run as they, again, enacted their gameplay into Fnatic ONIC’s plan and made them lose composure.
The second game was a great example of this, as they let go of Novaria, enabling the Geeks to pick her up alongside Moskov. The aggressive poke from both of them pressured the Fnatic ONIC. The Moskov pick nullified Kairi’s Baxia rotation advantage, as the hero can offset his damage with greater survivability.
FNOC finally got the series' rhythm after they banned Moskov in game 4. They also picked Uranus and Fanny for Lutpii and Kairi, enabling the Jungler to focus on Mid and Gold Lane as the tanky hero could be left out solo. With a smart Edith and X.Borg pick, Fnatic ONIC ended the series 3-2, completing a comeback.
Bigetron Alpha, the top team in the regular season, found great resistance when matched against the revitalised EVOS Glory in the MPL Indonesia Season 13 playoff. The red android can’t hold the White Tiger's aggression as they continue their heroic rise in MPL Indonesia Season 13.
From the first two games, it was clear that EVOS Glory had a plan and knew how to execute it perfectly. The Theo-led team was able to completely nullify Bigetron Alpha’s pickoff strategy as they used a pseudo-four-protect-one strategy with Dream anchoring as the main peeler for Branz.
Unfortunately, the perfect run was discontinued, as a surprise Cecilion pick from Bigetron Alpha completely caught EVOS Glory off guard in game 3. However, the same strategy can’t be replicated, as EVOS Glory wiped the floor and shut the red android’s run in the upper bracket.
Can EVOS Glory’s rise reach the top and bring glory itself to them?
