The Origins set will launch in Summer 2025 in China.
Riot Games has officially announced that Project K, its long-awaited League of Legends (LoL) trading card game, is now called Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. The first set, Origins, will launch in China this summer, followed by an English release in October 2025.
Riftbound brings the LoL universe to the TCG scene
Riftbound marks yet another expansion for Riot's flagship title into another medium, this time to the TCG scene.
“We’ve been incredibly humbled by the excitement from players around the world who can’t wait to play Riftbound,” said Chengran Chai, Executive Producer at Riot Games. He acknowledged the community’s feedback, particularly requests for more original artwork and refined UI, which led to further playtesting and design adjustments to ensure a polished experience.
Game Director Dave Guskin explained the name change: "We fell in love with the name Riftbound because it evokes Summoner’s Rift, captures the sense of playful action we see in the game, and is incredibly catchy." He revealed that an indie studio, Barrel Smash Studios, had previously used the name but agreed to transition it to Riot after discussions. “We’re looking forward to getting Riftbound decks into players’ hands later this year.”
Gameplay and set details
Riftbound offers multiple ways to play, including 1v1 duels, 2v2, and free-for-all matches. The Origins set will feature over 300 cards, including champions such as Annie, Garen, Jinx, Lee Sin, Lux, Master Yi, Viktor, Volibear, and Yasuo.
Riot has partnered with UVS Games, a veteran in the TCG industry, to distribute Riftbound in local game stores and support organised play. Throughout the year, players will be able to demo decks at upcoming Riot and tabletop events.

Proving Grounds serves as an entry point for newcomers and casual players, with starter decks featuring Lux, Annie, Master Yi, and Garen. Additionally, Origins Champion Decks offer pre-constructed 56-card decks containing a mix of units, legends, champions, spells, gear, runes, and battlegrounds. Champions in these decks include Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin.
For players looking to customise and enhance their decks, 14-card booster packs with various rarities will be available at launch.
Riftbound launches in Summer 2025 for China and October 2025 for English-speaking countries.
