MPL Malaysia Season 15 will open with a match between the Top 2 teams from Season 14.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia has announced that Season 15 will kick off on 19 April with a contest between SRG.OG and
Team Vamos and will feature a new two-phase format for its Playoffs. In addition, the league has also entered a multi-year regional partnership with mobile brand Infinix.
The confrontation between the champion – now partnered with European esports giant OG – and runner-up of MPL Malaysia Season 14 will be followed with DXSoul Esports versus Ocean Black, two of the new contenders in the league. The Regular Season will also be hosted in Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara and run until 25 May, with the Top 6 teams advancing to the new two-phase Playoffs.
MPL Malaysia Season 15's Playoffs will have two phases played across two weekends, with a one-week break in between. Phase One of the Playoffs will run from 30 to 31 May while Phase Two will be held from 14 to 15 June. There will be a one week break between the two phases. The reasoning for the split was to further improve the fan experience.
Siew Hao Zhen, Head Of Esports (MY and SEA Incubation) of MOONTON Games, said:
"We revised the Playoffs format as an experiment—to further improve the fan experience. In previous seasons, the Playoffs would take place from Thursday to Sunday; this has led to some fans not being able to attend the weekday matches due to commitments such as school and work. We believe the new format aligns more closely to our league's brand of being an inclusive and family-friendly community."
Infinix to be the official gaming smartphone partner of MPL Malaysia
MPL Malaysia has announced that Infinix will be the official gaming smartphone partner of the league, with Infinix's GT 20 Pro will serve as the Official Tournament Phone for Season 15.
Wai Kiat Hong, Marketing Director of Infinix Malaysia, said:
“Our partnership with MOONTON Games is a huge step in our goal to shape the future of esports in Malaysia, and furthers our commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology, bringing innovation to mobile gaming, and ensuring that our esports players and fans alike have the access to the best gaming technology,”
Hao Zhen also said said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Infinix into MPL Malaysia, Malaysia’s biggest mobile esports ecosystem. MPL Malaysia is committed to fostering innovation and excellence in mobile gaming—values that dovetail with Infinix’s strategy of delivering cutting-edge technology to empower gamers. We’re excited to push the boundaries of mobile esports together”.
Infinix will be joined by Head & Shoulders and Fairrie as MPL Malaysia partners in Season 15. MPL Malaysia Season 15 will start at 19 April and will end on 15 June.
