Team Vamos was only formed last August with a core of veteran Malaysian players, and now they find themselves in contention for this year's MLBB world title.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship is already underway, with 16 of the best MLBB teams from all across the world fighting to claim the lion's share of a $1 million prize pool and this year's MLBB world title. In this series, we'll be taking a look at all the teams that qualified for the Swiss Stage and their chances of becoming the 2024 MLBB world champions.
The fifteenth entry in our series will shine the spotlight on Team Vamos, a squad of veterans that was only formed this year and now find themselves as Malaysia's second representative in the M6 World Championship.
Team Vamos roster:
- Aeliff Adam Md “Smooth” Ariff
- Muhammad Irfan “Sepat” Bin Aujang
- Muhammad Nazhan “Chibii” Bin Mohd Nor
- Rizky “Warlord” Agustian
- Kenneth “Nets” Barro
- Mohamad Zul Hisham “Xorn” Bin Mohd Noor
Team Vamos are one of the youngest teams competing in the M6 World Championship, having been formed in August this year by Malaysian content creator Faris "Soloz" Zakaria.
The team acquired the slot previously held by King Empire in the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Malaysia for Season 14. Team Vamos' roster features multiple MPL Malaysia veterans in Sepat, Chibi, and Xorn from HomeBois as well as Smooth from King Empire. The squad also includes foreign talent in Filipino Gold Laner in Nets, who last played for HomeBois, and Indonesian mid laner Warlord, previously under EVOS Icon.
While the Team Vamos name itself is new, the roster already have plenty of experience and accolades under their belts. Xorn already tasted success when Malaysia and Singapore still had a combined league, winning MPL MY/SG Season 3, and winning MPL Malaysia Season 12 alongside Sepat and Chibi with HomeBois. Smooth also won MPL Malaysia Season 8 with Team SMG. The roster also boast six M Series appearances between the six of them when they joined up.
Team Vamos' experience showed in their MPL Malaysia Season 14, as they finished with the second-best Regular Season record in the league at 7-2 behind Selangor Red Giants – with their only losses being a narrow 1-2 defeat to Monster Vicious and a 0-2 drubbing by first seed Selangor Red Giants. That earned Team Vamos a direct berth into the upper bracket semifinals in the Playoffs, where they defeated RED Esports MY in four games.
With TODAK pulling off an upset over Selangor Red Giants in the previous round, Team Vamos had a relatively easy path to the grand finals as they scored a second-straight 3-1 victory to get within reach of the MPL Malaysia Season 14 title. However, they ended up facing their kryptonites in Selangor Red Giants in the championship round.
Team Vamos put up a good fight against the new juggernauts of MPL Malaysia, but it was not enough to earn them the Season 14 title as Selangor Red Giants won the grand finals with a 4-2 score. Despite that defeat, Team Vamos could still hold their heads high as they earned an all-important spot in the M6 World Championship.
While many have their bets on Selangor Red Giants as one of the biggest contenders for this year's world title, Team Vamos aren't slouches by any measure. This is an experienced roster very familiar with the pressures of MLBB's biggest stage, as ready as any for the fight to become the 2024 world champions. Add to that the fact that they'll be playing on home turf, and Team Vamos should have a good a shot as any to emerge victorious in the M6 World Championship.
