As the new champions of Türkiye's MLBB scene, can S2G Esports continue their stellar first year in competition with a good showing in M6?
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship is set to kick off on November 21, with 23 of the best MLBB teams from all across the world fighting to claim the lion's share of a $1 million prize pool and this year's MLBB world title. In this series, we'll be taking a look at all the teams that qualified for the Swiss Stage and their chances of becoming the 2024 MLBB world champions.
The tenth entry in our series will feature S2G Esports, the new champions of Türkiye's MLBB scene. Can they project their stellar domestic performance in the M6 World Championship?
S2G Esports roster:
- Lukasz “Pagu” Bigus
- Mehmet “Lunar” Ilgun
- Mehmed “Kazue” Öztürk
- Emir “Begin” Gözcü
- Şiyar “Sigibum” Akbulut
- Boranxcalgar
S2G Esports will be one of the newest teams in the M6 World Championship, having been created in November 2023. However, the team made it their mission to prove they were one of the best teams in Türkiye by recruiting established players such as Lunar, Sigibum, and Kazue.
S2G Esports' first outing in their domestic league in the MTC Türkiye Championship Season 3, ended with a respectable second place finish to Fire Flux Esports, the team that had previously dominated Türkiye's MLBB scene. That result was enough for S2G Esports to qualify for the Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024, which gave them their first experience of an international MLBB tournament.
However, their first foray into the MSC wasn't sweet, as they suffered three consecutive defeats in the Wildcard Stage and got eliminated in 22nd-23rd place.
Now with more experience, S2G Esports recruited rising star Pagu from Opertum Esports and trimmed down their squad by releasing three players from their team: Ahmet “Qaro” Yaren, Çağatay “Asmo” Okay, and Batuhan “Fairway” Sönmez. This transfer proved to be a masterstroke as they focused their full attention on their core players, with Pagu becoming the anchor to maintain the team's stability.
This strategy propelled SG2 Esports to the top of Türkiye's MLBB scene as they defeated Fire Flux Esports, 4-2, in the grand finals of MTC Türkiye Championship Season 4. This victory qualified them for the Swiss Stage of the M6 World Championship, while Fire Flux Esports (now ULFHEDNAR) started their journey from the Wildcard.
S2G Esports have a lot to prove as they close out their first year competing in MLBB. And the M6 World Championship will serve as the best proving ground for this Turkish squad as they face off against the best teams from all across the world.
