Monster Hunter Wilds' open beta test will allow players to experience the first few hours of the game.
Monster Hunter Wilds, the highly-anticipated latest entry in Capcom's Monster Hunter series, will be releasing an open beta test (OBT) at the end of this month to give players a glimpse of what they can expect for the game's full release in February next year.
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test will be open for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from 11AM November 1 to 9:59AM November 4 GMT+8 (8PM October 31 to 6:59PM November 3 PT). PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be given exclusive early access play from 11AM October 29 to 10:59AM October 31 GMT+8 (8PM October 28 to 7:59PM October 40 PT).
In an announcement on the official Monster Hunter social media accounts, Capcom revealed a variety of features players will be able to try out during the test period.
The features will include:
- Character Creation
The Character Creation screen will include the full suite of features that will be available in the full version of the games for players to design their perfect hunters and Palicos. Players will also have unlimited chances to remake their characters!
Additionally, character creation data will carry over into the full version of the game.
- Story Trial
In the OBT, players will experience the beginning of Monster Hunter Wilds’ story, which includes the opening cutscene and the tutorial hunt involving the Chatacabra. During this story trial, players will get a feel for the weapon mechanics, as well as be acquainted with the seamless transition from cutscene to gameplay.
- Doshaguma Hunt
Players will also be able to participate in the Doshaguma Hunt, which is meant to be a preview of how the game is meant to be played as it features hunting the alpha of the Doshaguma pack in the vast expanse of the Windward Planes.
During the OBT, players can deploy an SOS flare during either quest to call on other players online or NPC Support hunters to aid them during your hunt. A maximum of 4 players can be in a hunting party at once. Multiplayer will feature crossplay support, allowing you to connect with players across different platforms.
Aside from announcing the OBT, the developers of Monster Hunter Wilds has revealed more content that players can expect for the game’s full release.

Players who participate in the Open Beta Test will receive bonuses which can be claimed upon the release of the full version of the game, which will occur on February 28, 2025.
New locale, new monsters
Introduced as the third locale in the Forbidden Lands, the Oilwell Basin is populated by the people of Azuz, skilled forgers who have settled around an ancient fire forge called the Everforge.
This biome features brimming oil wells which periodically burst into violent flames, a fresh take on the typical fire areas of previous Monster Hunter games, which would be nestled within or around volcanoes.
Alongside this new area, new monsters have begun to roam about, causing chaos for the Azuz tribe.
Rompopolo
Found to inhabit deep oil silts, the Brute Wyvern Rompopolo is capable of injecting gas into oilsilt to cause massive explosions. Take caution when facing this monster!
Ajarakan
Ajarakan, which features a distinctly well-developed shell on its back, is known to be active during the Inclemency of the Oilwell Basin, the Firespring. It is able to emit sweltering heat when it rubs its shell against itself.
Ajarakan also looks like a distant cousin of our favourite angry ape Rajang, as both belong to the Fanged Beast monster classification.
The Black Flame
Players were also teased with the appearance of a massive Octopus-like monster that Azuz tribespeople called the Black Flame. Not much is known about the Black Flame, including its official name, but we can assume that it will be the Apex monster of the locale.
Playstation to release MHW themed DualSense controller
Playstation is set to release a Monster Hunter Wilds limited edition DualSense wireless controller, which will be available for pre-order from select retailers starting November 22, 2024 for players residing in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.
