Dragon Age: The Veilguard brings Morrigan back in new story trailer

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer BioWare have finally announced a concrete release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The new Dragon Age game will launch this Halloween, introducing players to a fresh cast of companions who group up with the player-controlled Rook to save the world. The Veilguard takes place right after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, with two returning characters providing the story some connective tissue: the Dread Wolf Solas and witch Morrigan.

The trailer sees Claudia Black, who previously denied returning to the franchise, reprise her role as Morrigan - a character who has by now become synonymous with the Dragon Age franchise. The rest of the video focuses on Rook and their companions embarking on a quest to defy the Elven gods, beat Solas at his own game and perhaps even defeat a dragon or two.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be the franchise’s first new instalment since 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, which means that it’s been a long time coming for BioWare fans. The game’s debut trailer wasn’t well-received online however, with fans deriding its cartoonish visual style and noticeable departure in tone from previous games. Later trailers, including this one, have been received more warmly thanks to their focus on the game’s companions and story.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on October 31, 2024.
