The Genshin Impact maker is lining up a new game for PC, mobile and PlayStation 5.

Genshin Impact publisher HoYoverse has officially confirmed that its upcoming action-RPG Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PlayStation 5 consoles. In addition to the PS5 launch, the game will also hit previously announced mobile and PC platforms at launch - but there’s no word of an Xbox or Nintendo Switch port of the game for now. The game is expected to launch sometime in 2024.

HoYoverse also released a new trailer confirming its PS5 launch:

HoYoverse confirms PS5 launch for Zenless Zone Zero

Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail developer MiHoYo is already lining up its next big gacha game for release later this year. Zenless Zone Zero is an action-RPG with an urban fantasy setting, where players explore a world ravaged by a supernatural disaster called the Hollows. A city called New Eridu is all that remains of the world’s people, using new technology to extract valuable resources from the Hollows. Only certain people are equipped to travel into the Hollows and get these resources, and you play as a Proxy - a professional who guides agents into the Hollows.

New Eridu seems to be the main setting of the game, where players will collect quests, talk to NPCs and move the story forward. It’s a pretty big place, with multiple neighbourhoods populated by different communities, and one can safely expect the city to expand in content over time. When you’re not exploring the city, you’ll be navigating the Hollows to find valuable resources and monsters that need killing. This is an action game with real-time combat, unlike Honkai Star Rail’s turn-based system, so you’ll have to use dodges and combos to clear enemies out in the Hollows.

It looks like the game’s urban setting and combat system differ the most from HoYoverse’s other games thus far - but the core appeal of collecting characters and levelling them remains intact. We’ll have to wait and see if Zenless Zone Zero turns out to be as much of a hit as its siblings, though.
