Five Nights at Freddy's 2 teaser shows off more terrifying animatronic hijinks

A teaser for the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie sequel has been released.

This week, Universal Pictures unveiled a new look at its upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel at a CinemaCon presentation. The teaser, which later surfaced online, shows off plenty of returning animatronics from the first movie along with protagonists Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail), who are thrown into an all-too-familiar nightmare.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 teaser released

The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation, which was poorly received by critics but better received by fans, is getting a sequel. This time, the animatronics of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza are breaking out into the wild, haunting citizens at schools, fairs, houses, and more. Josh Hutcherson returns as the security guard Mike, while Elizabeth Lail returns as Vanessa.

Interestingly, Matthew Lillard is also slated to return as the serial killer William Afton in this movie. He’s heard speaking in the teaser’s voiceover, despite his gnarly death in the previous movie. Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon co-wrote the script for the movie with Seth Cuddeback, while Emma Tammi returned to direct the picture.

Five Nights at Freddy’s was released on 27 October, 2023 by Universal Pictures on both the Peacock streaming service and in theatres on the same day. The movie racked up US$297.1 million and quickly became production studio Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film worldwide. It looks like Blumhouse is aiming to replicate its success with a sequel that largely retains the original movie’s creative team, but skips a day-and-date release on Peacock.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will hit theatres on 5 December, 2025.
