History repeats itself.
After becoming the first player to attend 11 editions of The International in a row, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov seems to be now on a very different and unwanted streak. This will be the second year in a row when the Dota 2 veteran will not be attending The International.
Much like in last year’s TI closed qualifiers, PSG.Quest took down Team Secret in the lower bracket rounds to deny Puppey another presence at the pinnacle Dota 2 tournament of the year.
Team Secret started the qualifier campaign for TI13 with a flawless 2-0 victory over Mouz in the upper bracket rounds, however, they were no match for Tundra, who sent them to the elimination series. Once arrived in the lower bracket, Secret were eliminated immediately.
Team SecretvsPSG Quest
Game one was a true stomp from PSG.Quest, who took the win in 30 minutes with none of their core heroes dying a single time. Heading into the second game, Team Secret made a few adjustments to the draft by banning three of the heroes that were crucial in Quest’s game one domination. They also secured themselves a better laning stage and built an early advantage, but when it came to mid and late game scenarios, it was once again Quest who had better initiation and overall better team fight coordination.
While Team Secret’s road to The International 2024 stops here, PSG.Quest will return to action tomorrow, June 22 when they will fight against NAVI Junior in the lower bracket semifinals.
Western Europe has two slots up for grabs. One is to be claimed later today when Tundra Esports and Entity clash in the upper bracket finals, while the second ticket to Copenhagen will be contested on Sunday.
