Team Spirit down to four as they part ways with TORONTOTOKYO

The TI10 winning roster of Team Spirit will not compete together for the 2022-2023 DPC seasons as they bid their mid laner TORONTOTOKYO adieu.

It is always a sad day to see a great roster break up and go their separate ways, and that day arrived for the legendary TI10 winning roster of Team Spirit. The Eastern European team that exceeded everyone's expectations in Bucharest in October 2021 and defeated tournament favorites PSG.LGD and lifteded the Aegis, will enter the upcoming Dota 2 season with a new mid laner.

There were rumors going around that Team Spirit's mid laner, Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek had switched to playing support in his pubs, which hinted that the player might be heading a different way. Just three days before roster lock, Team Spirit put out a statement on Twitter, which included the organization statement along with a few words from the manager Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov and TORONTOTOKYO himself.

Majority of the TI10-winning Team Spirit Roster got together in December 2019. The final piece of the puzzle was Miroslaw "Mira" Kolpakov joining the bunch in March 2021. The five of them went on to win the biggest prize ever in the history of esports, winning $18,208,300 by securing first place at TI10.

The 2021-2022 was not the best season for Team Spirit, but they did end last DPC season on a high by defeating PSG.LGD again, this time in the grand final of the Arlington Major. Going into TI11, Team Spirit were one of the favorites, but massively underperformed, finishing 13th-16th with a first round lower bracket loss in a best-of-1 against BOOM Esports. The change in roster comes on the back of that poor showing in Singapore at TI11.

Team Spirit are now down to four players. There are a few top level mids out there still unaccounted for. The question is, which one will be joining team Team Spirit? We will find out by the end of the week, when the rosters lock on the 9th of December.
