One of the most accomplished quintets in professional League will have to search for a new home as M5 were forced to shut down the project.
In the course of 2012, the roster of Moscow 5 grew to one of the most feared teams worldwide, starting with gold medals at IEM Kiev and IEM World Championship and backing it up with first place at The Siege, second at DreamHack Summer and top four at both S2WC and IPL 5. As of today, however, the roster around Alex_Ich will no longer compete under the M5 colors.
Moscow 5's official statement mentions the detainment of team founder Dmitry Smelyi, who was in Amsterdam in July at the request of the US authorities. The arrest put team sponsors MSI and BENQ as the sole source of income, which were ultimately not enough to support the roster.
Despite the closing of the project, team manager Konstantin "groove" Pikiner confirmed that Alex_Ich and co will indeed attend IEM Katowice, coming January 18-20. In the comments below the statement, he also refuted the rumors that the five will sign with Ukrainian-based Na'Vi.
