League of Legends teases the arrival of Yunara, a new ADC champion

Yunara comes out in Act II of League of Legends Season 2.

Season 2 of League of Legends (LoL) is just around the corner, and with it will come a new champion in Yunara. The game's newest champion, who will likely take on an ADC role, was teased in the Season 2 Cinematic, Here Tomorrow, the Spirit Blossom Beyond cinematic.

Various champions have appeared in the cinematic including Xin Zhao (who is originally Ionian), Ashe, Ivern, Nidalee, Lux, Shen, Irelia and Morgana. But toward the end of the cinematic, a mysterious unknown character was shown.

Who is Yunara?

Not much has been shared about Yunara except for her role. In fact, several LoL Leak pages said she was going to be a support, only to be corrected by the game’s Director of Content Strategy Brian Cearns, who said that Yunara wasn’t a support champion.

Brian also responded to a comment by user @SaltedFishlol that went “…or are my dreams and hopes of her being an ADC true?” where he said, “Dreams do come true.”

Soon after the official LoL social media accounts confirmed that it is Yunara, a new ADC coming to the game in Season 2.

Not much has been revealed about Yunara’s abilities but her powers seem to be connected with the mysterious lanterns she was hanging on the trees, and the flowers that she releases. It’s also possible that she is a spirit (like Janna), given that everything we saw in the cinematic happened in the spirit world, and we only get an image of Yunara in Runeterra as a statue.

When is Yunara coming out?

According to the most recent Dev Update, Riot Paul “Pabro” Belleza confirmed that Yunara will arrive in Act II of Season 2, saying players will learn more about her, “and her connection to the Spirit Blossoms” closer to her release date. This only means that her release date will come at least 1 or 2 months more into the second season.

Season 2 of League of Legends begins on 30 April.
