MLBB is not the only app affected by the federal ban.
Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) has become inaccessible to players in the United States following a federal ban on popular social media platform TikTok. MLBB developer MOONTON Games released an announcement regarding the matter on Saturday (January 18).
“We are aware of the issue some of the players are facing currently facing. It has been brought up to us that players from United States are unable to access the game and we're trying to reach out to higher ups regarding the situation,” said MOONTON. “We will update the post as soon as we receive any information about the issue.”
This was followed by another update, where MOONTON said that “due to circumstances beyond our control, access to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the US will unfortunately be temporarily suspended starting January 19, 2025.”
MOONTON is a subsidiary of ByteDance, which owns the popular social media platform, TikTok. According to a report by Wired, other apps such as Marvel Snap, Capcut, and Lemon8 were also inaccessible since the Federal ban on Tiktok was implemented.
MOONTON also tackled some common questions that many players from the region have been asking since the suspension took place.
The MLBB devs clarified that accounts from the region won’t be suspended or deleted and also encouraged the players to stay connected on social media and other official community channels to keep updated on the issue at hand.
“We deeply value our vibrant player community and are actively exploring possibilities to bring the game back in the future. Services in other regions will remain available as usual,” they added.
Another common inquiry was regarding refunds of in-game purchases which, according to MOONTON, is “not available at this time.” The MLBB devs assured its players from the United States that they are working on returning to the US market as soon as possible and are “optimistic about resuming the gaming services shortly.”
