Mobile Legends received three awards and five nominations in total in this year's MOBIES.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) was the biggest winner in the 2024 Mobile Game Awards, also known as the MOBIES, after walking away with three awards and five nominations – the most of any game title included in the event.
MOONTON Games' mobile MOBA title bagged the Mobile Competitive Game of the Year award as well as the Live Event of the Year award for the M5 World Championship in December last year. Filipino MLBB team Falcons AP.Bren also claimed the Mobile Team of the Year award, having claimed victory in the M5 World Championship.
MLBB as a game received two more nominations in the Mobile Game of the Year and Mobile Strategy Game of the Year categories while developer MOONTON was also nominated for Developer of the Year. Meanwhile, MLBB professional players David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon of Falcons AP.Bren and Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Bin Ahmad Shahrul Zaman of Selangor Red Giants were nominated for the Mobile Player of the Year award.
The MOBIES launched last year, and now serves as a dedicated award ceremony that recognises and rewards excellence in the mobile industry. This year's event was hosted in Los Angeles, the United States.
"A huge thank you to the awards committee, the panellists, and everyone who voted for us. This is another feather in the hat for MLBB and motivates us to continue creating great experiences for our passionate community," Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games said in a press release.
"The M5 World Championship was one of our most challenging events; we could have had a different venue and even had an earthquake during the programme. But everyone worked exceptionally hard to overcome the challenges. In the end, the M5 set a new viewership record for MLBB Esports together with all our passionate fans from all around the world. We have our M6 World Championship taking place from tomorrow. Best of luck to the M6 team in Malaysia, who have worked day and night to kick off our final event of the year."
MLBB notably received another nomination for Best Esports Game in this year's The Game Awards.
MLBB is set to close out a successful 2024 esports calendar with the M6 World Championship, which will be hosted from November 21 to December 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For everything you need to know about the M6 World Championship, check here.
