Fenix Esports is the first team eliminated from MSC 2023

Day 2 of the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2023 Group Stage came with disappointment for Fenix Esports.

Having seen some stunning Mobile Legends: Bang Bang on Day 1 at MSC 2023, Day 2 had the first possible elimination after Fenix Esports, unfortunately, lost their first best-of-three series to EVOS Legends. Today they had another formidable challenger, with RSG Slate Singapore as their barrier to survival. The Myanmar squad had shown some brilliance against the White Tigers on Day 1, almost managing to cause a massive upset, but now their tournament lives were on the line.

Although they managed to take a game off EVOS, Fenix could not make any repeat performance on Day 2. With RSG playing on a completely different level, the Singaporean squad made light work of their opponents – even picking up the recently released Novaria, which we have now seen come out on a few occasions during MSC 2023. Sadly, for Fenix, they could not break through their opponents and fell to a 0-2 loss. With two series losses, Fenix would be the first team eliminated from MSC 2023.

Earlier in the day we witnessed the Malaysian representative, TODAK, get their tournament underway with a surprisingly hard-fought victory over Team Occupy. With some of the squad and coach being no strangers to the international stage, Occupy was able to hold their own for a few brief moments before the Swordfish cut them down.

To end things off for the day, ECHO, the tournament favourites, became the first team at MSC 2023 to secure their spot in the Knockout Stage with their second victory coming over Fire Flux Impunity. While FFI looked absolutely fantastic, the Turkish team could not hold out to cause a massive upset. While the top side of Group A is now complete, the team to be eliminated is yet to be decided.
