MPL Cambodia Spring 2023 saw its playoff stage come to an end this past weekend, with BURN x FLASH taking their second championship in a row.
Cambodia’s Mobile Legends Professional League Spring 2023 season came to a thrilling end this weekend, with a best-of-seven grand finals between Burn x Flash and CFU Gaming. Having knocked the reigning champions down into the lower bracket in a tight upper bracket finals series, CFU were definitely in a spot to cause a massive upset. However, a magnificent lower bracket run from Burn would see them dispatch both PRO Esports and See You Soon to set up a grand finals rematch against CFU.
When it came down to it, having had two great warm-up games the previous day, Burn was by far the better team. The reigning champions came into the series with fervour, taking the first two games before CFU struck back with one of their own. Unfortunately, that would be all they could muster as the doors were quickly shut as the championship was safely defended. BURN’s Philippines import, Mariusz “Donut” Villamero Tan was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the grand finals, with his Gold Lane performances being highly appreciated by the winning team.
With their victory BURN x FLASH claim their second MPL KH championship and claim a total of $16,000. More importantly, the team’s victory secures them their spot at the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup as the Cambodia representatives. Before this, most players of the winning team will be fighting as the Cambodia representatives at the 32nd iteration of the Southeast Asia Games – with only Donut being left out of the main roster, being from a different region.
