Alter Ego were on a massive high as they came into their upper bracket final series today in the Mobile Legends Professional League Season 11, having knocked Rex Regum Qeon into the lower bracket just yesterday. Now, to hopefully secure their spot at MSC 2023 and in the grand finals of the event, the team needed to surpass another near impossible challenge which came in the form of ONIC Esports. Having only dropped a single series in the Regular Season, the reigning champions were never about to let their hot-streak go.
Four in a row
One-sided does not even remotely come close to describing the upper bracket finals of MPL ID Season 11, in which AE could never figure out any movements of the now four-time grand finalists. Right from game one. The Yellow Porcupines begun to assert their dominance – even with a rather close battle initially. With Nino absolute shutdown, AE suffered, and not even a Martis from Celiboy could save them from losing the first game.
After that, it was all swiftly downhill for AE, as CW’s Wan-Wan ripped through them in game two – even securing an unofficial SAVAGE at the last second, before a swift game three sealed the deal. From the outside perspective, it seems as though ONIC is on a warpath forward, and without RRQ to stop them, another title is almost certainly their destiny. However, the grand finals away, and with their fourth appearance in a row secured, ONIC become the first team to secure their slot at MSC 2023 – a title which seems within their reach if they keep this form.
