The first five episodes of Arcane Season 2 have been leaked, following what fans are now calling "one of the worst anime leaks in history."
Scheduled for release on November 2, 2024, Arcane Season 2 has become the latest victim of a major Netflix data breach. Five of the anticipated nine episodes have surfaced online, turning the internet into a dangerous, spoiler-filled minefield for dedicated fans.
Arcane, which debuted its first season in 2021, is a spinoff animated series based on the popular MOBA League of Legends (LoL), developed and produced by Riot Games. The show chronicles the story of siblings Vi and Jinx in a steampunk utopia, exploring how they become entangled in a growing conflict over convictions and emerging technologies.
The source of the leaks remains speculative, though it's believed they may have originated from Netflix Japan, given that the first batch of anime leaks, including upcoming titles like Terminator Zero, Dandadan, the Ranma ½ remake, and the movie Mononoke: Phantom in the Rain, featured Japanese dubbing. It's uncertain whether the same leaker would later release Arcane Season 2’s first 5 episodes mere hours after the first batch of leaks.
Arcane’s 2nd season, which underwent a gruelling three-year production time, will explore Vi and Jinx’s strained relationship as war is looming over their heads. This will also be the final season for the series.
As of the time of writing, Netflix or Riot Games have yet to release a statement regarding this incident.
