Merryday on supports: "You only get the illusion of contributing to win. Warriors do everything."

Many would call him the best support player in the world, but in this latest flurry of posts on the inven.co.kr forums, the unsung hero of MVP Black reveals deep disatisfaction with the support role.

You can read the original posts on inven.co.kr here, but for the rest of us that can only read English, this helpful reddit thread first brought Merryday's translated opinions to light.

Unrelenting in his criticism, Merryday goes on to explain how skilled players are regulated to "heal slaves" forced to play boring Support heroes with no real impact on the outcome of the match. The only supports that are at an acceptable level of strategic intrigue for a serious support player is, according to Merryday, Rehgar and Tyrande.

Very few things are dependent on the skill of a support, and the only support that can have a big impact on those limited situation is Rehgar.

One of the most impactful statements came from the frustrations that Merryday feels being hidden by his role of support. Many of us are aware of Merryday's precise mechanical ability but the actual impact he brings to a game is, by his own admission, limited.

Honestly, there aren't any Heroes that can lead a game among Supports. If you want to win, play a Tank or Assassin. It's the tank that's good, not you. Including me. Warriors are the real stars. The game was always about warriors. Ever since I saw MRR bring on the triple warriors, I went "Ah, Warriors are the best" You only get the illusion of contributing to win. Warriors do everything. Tanks are the ones that land the first CC too.

Inven.co.kr is essentially the Korean equivalent of Reddit, so it makes sense that Merryday would use this platform to vent his frustrations. The Reddit thread cataloguing the series of responses include multiple link to the actual posts, including questions and comments that Merryday answered throughout the thread.
