Brimming with psionic energy, the long dormant excecutor of the Protoss has risen once more. His resurgence into the competitive scene is helped in no small part to his recent changes, and the synergies that come with that. What was once a hero valued for his versatility and damage, Tassadar now shines as a walking artificial healthpool, able to help his allies shrug off all but the mightiest blows. Since the Lt. Morales patch, Tassadar has boasted a 49% pick rate, and 71% contention, compared to the previous patch's 10% pick and contention rate. It is clear that Tassadar is far more popular now, but...
What changed?
While not quite as strong on himself, Tassadar's shields are now incredibly powerful on his allies. With a lower mana cost, and a shorter cooldown, he's able to spam additional health onto heroes that like to go deep. Leeching plasma also got a sizeable buff and is now great for helping keep an Assassin topped off in fights. In addition to his changes, a few heroes that he pairs exceptionally well with were also buffed, giving Tassadar a wide flexibility and numerous synergies.
Tassadar and Tyrande
One of the more popular combos with their changes is having Tassadar and Tyrande on the same team. Double 'off-support' allows for more flexibility with talents, as they naturally supplement each other's supportive abilities. It isn't surprising to see more damage oriented builds out of these two when paired together.
Key features
- Used frequently to support an 'all-in' character.
- Very aggressive drafts.
- Healing and damage numbers of the two usually equal a full support and assassin together.
- Flexibility in talent choices (can go full support or double damage)

- Cloud 9 vs compLexity Tassadar and Tyrande back up double melee assassins in a very aggressive comp.
Tassadar and Kharazim
Tassadar excels at giving deep divers just a few more precious seconds of life. What better to give him than a support that heals more the deeper they're willing to go? Tassadar helps to alleviate a few of Kharazim's weaknesses while fortifying his strengths. Normally, Kharazim is limited by his healthpool as he can be locked down or killed before his healing can get rolling in a fight, but with Tassadar, Kharazim has the freedom he needs to go deep and heal forever.
Key features
- Extreme survivability
- Excels at keeping squishy targets alive
- A great counter to pick comps
- Incredible sustain
Watch Tassadar and Kharazim philosophize... painfully!
- Tempo Storm vs Cloud 9 Tassadar and Kharazim support a Chen and shut down an aggressive Butcher-Abathur comp.
- Gamers2 vs Virtus.Pro The duo show their power as they out sustain the fights for the shrines.
Solo support Tassadar
If you would've proposed solo support Tassadar a month ago, you would've been laughed out of whatever venue you chose. Team Blaze from NA fears no such laughter, and has pioneered this unique style of Tassadar play. Prioritizing his shield and self sustain talents, they tend to run him solo with characters that can auto attack frequently in fights to make the most of his buffed leaching plasma. It might be unorthodox, but Blaze has managed to make it work.
Key features
- Having such a 'light' support opens up many damage possibilities.
- Utterly confuse your opponents.
- Great teamfight control with force wall
- Pair with an Abathur to create a 'hyper carry'.
Watch Tassadar be an independant Protoss who doesn't need another support
- Team Blaze vs Kappa Wolves Tassadar and Abathur team up to create the unstoppable 'Super Zeratul'
- Team Blaze vs Kappa Wolves Tassadar and his trusty force wall create no escape from Diablo's Lightning Breath.
Tassadar and... Murky?
Well to be fair it isn't JUST Tassadar that makes this work, but work it does. Legends speak of a time when Kharazim, Tassadar, and Abathur's powers combine, creating that which cannot be stopped. A horror pulled from the depths of the briny seas, and the forgotten lands of mythos. Murky. Yes with these three guys working together, Murky becomes a dps machine. If you thought he was tedious to kill before, just wait until he gets two shields and some of the best sustained healing in the game.
Key features
- Unspeakable horror.
- Watch your foes succumb to insanity as they can't kill the murloc.
- Insane survivability and sustained damage.
- Great staying potential.
With Tassadar's help, Murky becomes a god. Tassadar completes the ritual and an old one is summoned into our plane of existance. Abandon all hope. Watch at your own risk. (Cloud 9 vs compLexity)
