Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 4K remaster announced

The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine remaster will feature updated visuals in a surprise launch this 10 June.

SEGA and Games Workshop revealed a surprise announcement during the Warhammer Skulls showcase livestream for the Festival of Video Games 2025 event yesterday (22 May). More than a decade after it first released, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is set to get a 4k remaster.

The announcement came with a trailer that showcased what players can expect, and offered a high-quality sneak peek at the stunning remastered visuals the game will offer.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine remaster will be playable only on PC and Xbox

The remaster, titled “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition” will feature modernised controls, a complete UI overhaul, remastered audio, improved character models and textures, as well as a 4K resolution option to fully immerse players in the grim darkness of the far future.

The game retains its third-person mechanics, but will definitely amp up its blood and guts. Demetrian Titus will never not be a badass, whether in melee or through ranged attacks.

The remaster was developed by Sneakybox, with its producer Vaidas Mikelskas commenting (via IGN) that the remastered game “isn’t just a technical upgrade–it’s a thoughtful restoration.” Mikelskas further stated that the remaster aims to preserve the spirit of the original, while keeping modern players in mind.

“This is more than just Master Crafted Edition, it's a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of players.”

But the game isn’t catering to every modern gamer–the Master Crafted Edition is seemingly skipping a PS5 release, and will only be available for PC and Xbox Series X|S, as well as Game Pass.

Just for a refresher, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine follows the titular Space Marine Demetrian Titus of the Ultramarines Chapter, as he defends the Forge World of Graia from an invasion of Orks and other sinister enemies of the Imperium of Man. As one of the genetically enhanced super soldiers tasked with the defense of the Imperium, Titus is a peerless combatant in both melee and ranged encounters.

Players will have to shoot and cut through hordes of Orks in glorious displays of violence in service of the God Emperor of Mankind. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition launches on 10 June, 2025.
