Jurassic World Evolution 3 removes AI content following backlash from fans

Frontier directly responded to community concerns, as the game continues development ahead of its October release.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 is still set for release on 21 October, 2025, but one major change has already taken place ahead of launch: the game will no longer feature generative AI-created scientist portraits. The decision comes after a wave of criticism from fans, and Frontier Developments has confirmed it’s dropping the tech in response to early feedback.

The dinosaur park sim franchise made its big return earlier this month during Summer Game Fest 2025, marking the end of a four-year wait for a sequel. Fans were excited about new additions like baby dinosaurs roaming the parks, but that enthusiasm quickly dipped when it was revealed that some in-game staff avatars were made using generative AI.

The Steam page for Jurassic World Evolution 3 originally included an AI content disclosure, noting that the portraits for scientists were created using the technology. While they’re only used for background staff and not main characters, it was enough to spark a strong reaction across the community.

Fan feedback leads to the removal of AI-generated portraits

After players voiced their concerns and some even called for a boycott, Frontier responded directly on the game’s Steam forums. “Thanks for your feedback on this topic,” the post read. “We have opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits within Jurassic World Evolution 3.”

A longer follow-up sent to GameWatcher confirmed the same: “We have removed the use of generative AI for scientist portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following some initial feedback,” the team wrote. The AI disclosure has since been taken down from the Steam page.

Players are already celebrating the move. “LET'S GO! I just hope there's no other AI generated content in it man,” Steam user Deecolon said. Others shared similar thoughts, praising the studio for listening and sticking to human-made content.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 21 October, 2025.
